Then you should be consistent, if that's your argument, unless you want to be labeled a hypocrite. I don't think you read the list. Hakeem Olajuwon is on there, too with the same number as McGrady.

Personally, though I don't condone it, we all make mistakes. I judge somone on the whole of his character and achievements. McGrady has been positive for the Rockets and the community. Hakeem, of course, even more.

Given Wafer time, he probably doesn't have a lot of chasers so far, since he hasn't gotten a big pay day. I have a feeling he'll make the list someday.

Will someone hurry up and overpay this guy, so he can continue his journeyman one-dimensional career?

I don't believe Hakeem was married at that time...thus the consistency part.

Von may indeed get a better offer, we shall see........personally, I don't think he has finished developing and is worth a part of the MLE money.

So having illegitimate children without a father figure in their lives is OK, as long as you weren't married?

Wow, not saying that cheating is right, but the kids did nothing wrong. So, that would seem worse to me, and the main point of the problem.

Maybe you could break down your hierarchy?:

#1 Cheating that results in pregnancy
    #2 Cheating but no kid
    #3 ...Etc

Why even bring this up? You should just quit while you're behind....

Hey you are the guy still popping off about an inference, you are driving this discussion.

But, no of course it is not optimal, but to me, getting someone pregnant while married to someone else is a lot different than having a child with someone you are not married too, and you should be a father regardless....but still....there is a massive difference.....at least to me.

Maybe you don't mind guys breaking their wedding vows, but to me it shows a weakness in character......

MJ probably cheated on his wife, if you could have MJ in his prime would you sign him?

MJ did cheat on his wife, and this is not about signing anyone it is about respecting them or their charater.

I lost a lot of respect for MJ when I found out he did it...

Yes, I know the temptations are great, but it is why I respect people like Battier and Tom Hanks all the more, because they can manage those temptations and realize the importance of a committment to another person, especially a wife.

I am sorry I brought it up, it is one of the many reasons I dislike TMac.....Smooth made an excellent point about it not belonging here and I realized I had made a mistake in posting it.

So, I will be done with it, but it does effect my feelings about the man....and whether I want him on my team.

I actually agree with you there, thats part of the reason it's hard for me to watch the Cosby. He's such a clean guy other than the affair.

The thing of it is, I think after Ron came to this team, character no longer became a preceptor to play. I repect Shane more than anyone else, if we were to trade him I think I might question my Rockets fandom.

With that said, I'd still sign an MJ in his prime without even thinking. If McGrady's game could actually do some talking for him, this conversation wouldn't exist. When he doesn't perform, the rest of his life goes under a microscope.

You said it right. Who cares? It is not our problem. This has nothing to do with purchasing tickets, it's a basketball game. But DD, you and others get so overwhelmed with these players that you include their personal life and judge them for making a mistake.

Apparently him and his wife are OK with it, they are still together!! So who are we to judge? But like I said, it has nothing to do with buying tickets, because if it did, no one would buy tickets to see; Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Calvin Murphy, Muhammad Ali, I could go on and on. Every Basketball arena and Football Stadium would be empty if you did not buy a ticket based upon a players personal life!

I disagree with you. A player's personal life should never be under a microscope. Their only responsibility is to the team but if you the fan choose to look at them as an idol, that is your choice. Players are people too, it just so happen that their lifes are made public but it still does not give us the right to judge them. I see you and DD have a very high regard for Shane Battier but we don't know what Shane does behind close doors. The same way many fans didn't know what Steve McNair did behind close doors, until recently. Trust me, everybody down here does something. :D

By the way, what charity does Battier represent?

Smh this thread has discussed about 10 different topics.

How in the hell does a Von Wafer to sign with Phoenix thread end up talking about athletes having babies out illegitimate kids.

Because Von Wafer is actually an illegitimate child of Tmac when he was 12. duh.

I agree with you, this thread has deviated from the originally debunked theory at hand. The twitter in question no longer exists.

    DD,

Please stop!! With each reply, you are making yourself seem more and more stupid.

Just because Hakeem had a child out of wedlock, it makes it OK?? Cheating is Cheating. Hakeem had a history too before he found Islam and it appears McGrady is doing the same thing with his humanitarin efforts in Dufar. By the way, I hate to hurt your feelings but T-Mac was not married when he had the other child either, go back and check your facts. Him and his wife got married after, I guess love concurs all. ;)

Someone asked me why I didn't like Tmac...and boom....away we went.

Anyway, I should not have posted it.

Well I knew the first thing he and his wife did when they heard about the trade was discuss setting up or finding a charity out in Houston.
