If you have a child with another woman, and you are already married to someone else, Yes, I have a problem with that. If you don't..fine...I do. Does it matter on the basketball court, no, but it bugs me as a fan of the franchise.....I would rather have men of honor and character on the team.....but that is just me. DD
I hope that people don't take it personal, and realize we are all just fans of the same team...and man I hope you aren't right...but I clearly rankle some fans. The more mature ones realize that it is just passion and a difference of opinion, the less mature ones carry a grudge. And I summarized what he said perfectly....in a much more concise post. DD
(Edit - long post deleted) Let's not derail this thread any further, it is a Von Wafer one.....and I for one hope the Rockets resign him. DD
i'm not saying it's ok. i think it's wrong. but we don't cheer for those players as people b/c we don't know what they do off the court. i mean, is it ok to smoke weed? most players do that, among other things. we cheer for these guys as basketball players b/c we see them doing that. and i, myself, keep it at that. unless i know and hang out with an athlete or anybody, it's hard to judge a person based on their work performances. i mean kobe bryant is a great player, but he's a two-faced off the court. does it mean he's not a player i don't want on my team? hell no. if i had to pick a player now to build my team, i probably pick kobe after lebron. b/c it's a basketball game. and kobe is a great basketball player.
DD, TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS!! T-Mac was NOT married to his current wife before he had a child with another woman. They were common law. However, what a man does in his own free time is his business, that is between him and God. From the way you sound, you walked on water, turned water into wine, and made the blind see. If you didn't do any of these things, then you are a sinner too. You may not know it but we all are. You may have not cheated on your girlfriend, fiance,or wife but you have done something!! It just so happen that his dirt was made public. But I forgot, God died and gave you the power to judge others. Take a look in the mirror first!
I get your argument, but what he did is considering cheating. His wife has been going out with him for 10 years. Isn't the child under 10 years or over a little?
I think Morey is going to low ball him and then re-sign him for a smaller above minimum contract around training camp. DD
yes he can. the guy is a tall, witty, attractive guy with his sleepy eyes. ( no sarcasm) who does go to parties in his free time ( instead of sitting in his basement) who loves the material world and living live large before he committed himself to Darfur.
Why not do a 3 year, 3rd year team option for around 4.5 mil a season? It eats up a lot of the MLE, but, not all of it. Realistically, would Rockets fans be okay if we sat on our MLE money? I would say sign AI before I'd want that...
I don't think Wafer is worth that, at least not now...his attitude and committment to defense are still a question mark. But as a Vinnie Johnson offensive spark off the bench, and as he develops possibly more....he is worth around $2 million a year..... That would be my guess as to what number Morey has attached to him...purely a guess though. DD
I do not need to look in the mirror, neither do the other fans. Who cares? But T-mac has to. He makes his living out of the tickets we have paid. Its just that simple.
Maybe. We'll have a bit left over after the Andersen signing and signing the two rookies. Will that be between $1.7 to $2 million? Better than the minimum. Frankly, I'd rather we picked up another guy that could play center, but if Morey thinks Von is a better option for about that price and at 3 years, 3rd year team option, I'd be OK wth that.
What exactly do we have left? Is the MLE $5.7 Million? If so, I think Andersen's first year is at $2.3, right, that would leave $3.4 to sign 3 guys.... DD
MLE is 5.7, Anderson's contract (to my knowledge) does not eat into that. Rookie contracts come in as a rookie exception. I think. I'll investigate...
$5.8 million? $800K for each rook = $1.6 million, plus $2.3 gives you $3.9 million. Subtract that from $5.8 and Wafer's looking at about $1.9 million, first year. Assuming Morey will offer what's available.
