That's based on 2 summer league games he played with a sore hammy?? Obviously Taylor is "way way way behind Von" right now, but that's because Vohawk has been on the scene for 4 years. He's kicked around with a few teams and the very BEST he could do was snag a rotation spot with Houston, then grab some decent PT when the starter went out for the year with an injury. He also had a nasty little habit* of getting visibly pissed off when the coach pulled him off the floor for screwing up. That smacks of immaturity -- something you'd hope not to see in a 24-year-old whose been around the league for 4 years. Taylor's upside is impossible to predict at this point, but I don't see Wafer ever being a starter in the NBA. He's simply too one-dimensional and not THAT good at the one dimension.
Dammit. Dumb move letting him go. Hes gonna become a player. I also dont see how the Rockets plan on breaking 80 points a night. Even 70.
Why can't some people face the fact that Von is gone. There are other guys better than him out there. There is a reason why he was on 5 different teams in 5 years. let it go people. James White signed a 2 year non guarantee contract for a reason.
Needless to say, this is going to be a pretty tumultuous season. Closer to the beginning (perhaps just before the pre-season), we should create a 2009-2010 season prediction thread where everyone just predicts stuff. No arguing, just opinions on what you think will happen with specific stuff (e.g., will we trade McGrady? Over/under on 15 MPG for Budinger? etc.). At the end of the season, we can bump it and see what happened. Might be fun...
Yeah, I love it when people come into threads and instead of discussing the topic make it personal, then they run, duck for cover and whine about the GARM.... Awesome...seriously...awesome ! DD
I will definitely give you Battier and for the sake of arguing, Scola (although I think alot of people loved that move), but Yao?? Cmon now...the obvious #1 pick in the draft is hardly going out on a limb. I'll give you credit, at least you stick to your guns. Back to Von, if the Rockets can persuade him to come back for 1.8-2 mil for 1-2 years, I am in. Anything more and I say let him walk.
See, I don't get this argument, one guy is impossible to predict, yet the other guy who just played his first significant role in the NBA is already defined? And, he is all of 23 years old....I mean COME ON ! Again Morey has a number, and once the price is set he will make an offer or let him walk, which is fine by me. I think his max number would be around 3 million..same as Landry...but that is just my opinion. DD
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that these players are good. It's obviously tougher to find the diamonds in the rough. Morey has done that by acquiring Brooks, Landry, & Lowry. I have a good feeling that we will add either Taylor, Chase or both to this list. And it's already determined.. Rose is much better than Beasley.. by a LONG shot Lol
I agree, right now, but injury, longevity, and Beasley finding his comfort zone....I would say 75% determined.....Beasley came on strong at the end of the season....but Rose was strong all year long.... One guy has the ball in his hands all game the other plays with Wade, whom do you think will get more of a chance to shine? DD
i cant help but wonder if any other fan base would have a thread this long about last year's 15th man.
I've posted before about Von, I don't post my opinion about 459 times in 34 different threads about it, or put it in my signature so that people can read it in every single post. The bottom line is that Von is gone so it's probably irrelevant right now anyway. Please stop this.....in his rookie year, you yourself posted numerous times that the Rockets "are in win now mode" and called them serious contenders to win a title. You did not say they were rebuilding - which is true, they weren't.
