this is prob the best place for von. he will fit in well with the run and gun suns. he will prob avg 12-14 ppg and not have to worry about playing D
depending on how much he'll make I withhold judgment. If he signed for 2 mil. I'll be pissed. I he signed for 3.5 mil. I'll understand.
After watching this video i think we need to get rid of barry and cook so we can do something to sign this guy. He brought so much with his energy and fast play. He was out of control sometimes but thats what coaches are for. Pheonix may turn wafer into another barbosa.
Interesting, the guy is claiming Nash wants a $13M/yr 3yr extension, but the negotiations aren't close.
Don't let your emotions get in the way of good solid basketball and a winning formula. Von Wafer, although fantastic at times, also disappeared last in games when it mattered most.. and didn't look as assertive and decisive. He also plays VERY weak defense, and is about 95% certain to shoot when he touches the ball on offense. Ariza is a better fit for a team.. Wafer is better fit for the fan who likes to root for the underdog which clings to only the positives of a player he/she chooses to embrace.
ummm I don't know if you have been paying attention, but the suns aren't all that run and gun anymore.
Before the season was over, DD and I talked about how a team like the suns might have a good offer for von. Depending on the money, it wouldve be great to bring von back. It won't surprise me that without shaq and the style, von will avg 16ppg there. On another note, can't the rox do a s&t with the knicks for wilcoxusing cooks contract? It seems that would make more sense or use the 2.6 te.
If the offer is less than $2M per, then I think this will confirm that the Rockets view Jermaine Taylor as simply a superior overall player to Wafer. Apparently, they are really high on the guy and see him as a Von Wafer-type but with better passing and defensive fundamentals (although he still needs to work on his D) and with a higher BBall IQ. Looking back at how the NBA Draft played out, Taylor must have been pretty high on their draft board. Above Jeff Pendergraph (#31). Above Christian Eyenga (#30). Above Toney Douglas (#29). Above DeMarre Carroll (#27). So, while people here like to dismiss Jermaine Taylor as some "second round pick", the Rockets likely viewed him as a clear first round talent. Replacing Von Wafer with a first round pick is not even close to blasphemy. DD raises the legitimate point that Wafer is a more proven commodity. But this is based only on a chunk of one season, where his flaws were also more apparent. Especially in what is sure to be a "down year", giving Taylor the opportunity to play more minutes will only accelerate his growth. If this rumor is true, then good luck Von, and thanks for your service. Now, we can turn our attention to "The Jermaine Taylor Era".
There's no rational or logical way to judge this news until we know exactly how much and for how long Wafer is signing for.
Well, to be fair, they sort of returned to it (or tried to at least) towards the end of last season when Alvin Gentry took the reins. And now that Shaq is gone, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue with it.
I don't believe it either. Same guy that says Amares eye is fine where as NBA.con and ESPN are saying he needs eye surgery again.
Seems like a good move for Von...Suns are going to up and down again this year going back to more of what they did before Shaq which fits Von perfectly.... Wilcox would be a nice addition to the front line so I imagine he would be the insurance policy for Andersen if he has trouble adjusting...
