I'm still open to getting Wafer back. Other than that incident with coach in the playoffs, he seemed pretty calm. They should resign Wafer and put him on Adderall to calm him down.
I don't think so. He couldn't even accept his role in Greece for 5 mil/year, the coach said he played poorly and he didn't even try to change his way of play. 6 clash with 6 coaches in 4 years as a bench warmer, hogs the ball more than any Rockets player in many years, plays on one end only. I can't see how Morey and Adelman would want him back.
Europe though plays a much different style, Von plays NBA ball where there is a lot of one on one...they play a much more team oriented style, a lot like what we are playing now in Houston. DD
You know, since it was basically a coin-flip between him and DJ Strawberry last year at the beginning of the season, why not look in DJ's direction? Did anybody ever pick him up?
You do realize this current Rocket team is a lot different from last year right? We play an up-tempo paste focusing on ball movement. We don't focus on individuality as much anymore. Plus, he yelled at the coach for not playing him. If anything, Wafer's attitude will cause more problems than ever.
Big ego for a decent bench role player is a dangerous combination. We all seen what happened to Iverson and Wafer. I fear for his his new coach's life!
I liked Wafer overall for what he was. His game had some holes and he seemed a bit hot-headed but nobody can dispute the fact that he scored buckets efficiently and consistently. He was like a shot a nitrous to the Rockets' engine. I never understood the hate for the guy. He was by far the most efficient wing player on this team and put up great numbers in 20 minutes a night for a very, very low price. Having said all that, I don't want him back. I don't believe he's going to get much better. In fact, I expect after all of these setbacks he may start to decline. If he came back to Houston his minutes would come at the expense of Budinger and I don't see how that is a good idea at all. There is also the chemistry issue. This team is so professional and mature I'm not sure bringing back a knucklehead is a great idea unless he brings way more game than Wafer does.
hel take a lot of PT from chase Personally I rather give Jermaine Taylor a chance .. he similar to wafer both love to push the ball, run the break drive to the hoop .. may Von is better shooter but certainly a worse defender.
Wafer's a ballhog... he'd ruin chemistry... I don't want him on this team... his attitude is also terrible.
Man after seeing his mixtape we can surely use what he brings to the table. The attitude can be fixed but his type of talent is kinda hard to find.
I'd take Wafer back in a New York second - the next time the Rockets are 9 mins into a quarter and have scored 4 pts it would be nice to have Wafer on the bench to turn to. The man is instant offense and aside from Brooks he was the fastest Rocket on the team last year. I don't see him not fitting in with this team at all he brings shooting and speed to an up tempo team. He's a more willing passer than a lot of people give him credit for as well.
Why are you a fan of Von Wafer who opening argues with the coach on the floor but you criticize t-mac for having an apparent closed door dispute with Adelman?
One thing Von can do that is in short supply on this team is create his own shot. He can shoot over most any defender and we know he can slash to the basket as well. Guys that can disrupt the defense and create for themselves are always in a good possition to pass the ball see Brooks as a prime example. Hate to see Memphis get him when we could use him.
