Actually, I quit following his tweets they were to tough for an old guy like me to decipher.

But there are a few people in this thread that are still following him....

If the mods want to lock it up, that is ok with me too....

I think it is status quo as far as the Rockets are concerned, they are keeping in touch with his agent and Morey said when he is healthy they will revisit the situation.

According to other posts in this thread, that might be about 3 weeks away.

probably not going by DM's quotes and the fact that he is still on the active roster......but even if he does end up logging time at Rio Grande, that's still a hell of a lot better than sitting at home all day post a full summer of NBA-rejection, an autumn of Euroleague-rejection and now wintertime blues with no offers in hand......aint nobody want to go to war every nite with a player/teammate whose lack of character shines brightest in the most important moments, ie PLAYOFFS!

LOL - and JT may indeed get his shot, but IMO, he is only on the roster for practice purposes.....once the team gets another wing he should be sent down to get a lot more time.

His game does not translate well right now, he needs work on playing without the ball.

He just needs more playing time, and you don't get much of that at the NBA level, nor practice time either during the regular season...I think he would have a better chance at being an NBA contributor by playing at Rio Grande Valley.

I hope the team sends him down to get playing time, because I doubt he is improve that much right now rotting on the bench.

    1) he is on the active roster, despite what you 'think'
    2) if the rockets were to waive him tomorrow, he would be picked up by another nba team relatively quickly
    3) von wafer remains teamless

All true, just posting my opinion, but you have to admit his lack of playing time even when TMac was gone and Cbud was out was fairly telling?

I mean Rick overplayed Trevor and Battier even as they were seriously struggling.

Oh, and Von is injured....talk to me in 3ish weeks.

    ;)

even sam i am got little playing time in his first 2 months as a rocket.....i'm not comparing JT to cassell, just saying that typically very few rookies get much playing time in the beginning.....especially when we are in the middle of 15 back-to-backs mostly on the road with mostly close games and little margin for error b/c we have $40M in street clothes...

but the fact that the front office spent $3M to acquire JT's rights, that DM has been happy with him ("don't sleep on JT"), that clyde keeps saying how impressed he's been with JT in practice, etc - leads me to believe that he's probably a better prospect than the scrub you make him out to be based partly on his limited play thus far and largely on his post-draft interview from which you for some reason determined that he was too stupid for the nba....

i don't really buy this 'injured' story for wafer, but then again that's just my opinion ;)

No fair enough JT may indeed be an NBA player, and yes I am not thinking he is all that bright...but moreso because of his interviews etc, after the draft and when talking to Battier him saying "I am not a thinker"....or something similar.

Anyway, I concede that he might become an NBA player, and the Rox liked him by paying for him in the draft.

But most 2nd round picks do not make a significant impact and are gone in under 3 years.

There are exceptions.....Landry is a great one for example...but then you have Dorsey.......so we got Cbud this year, who is clearly a much better player than Taylor.....even though he was drafted a lot later.

It is just hit and miss when you get that low in the draft.

JT has sick athleticism, let's see if he can develop his game over the next 2 years.

    Time will tell.

As for Von he failed physicalls at Memphis and Houston, and Morey said his injury would require some time but they are monitoring him closely....but you are entitled to your own opinion.

DD you need to add Valley to the Rio Grande persons living down here don't like to be refered to just the river. Rio Grande Valley. Since you live in Austin is there a good place down 6th St. to catch a Rockets game? I will there Feb. 9th.

Will you please stop it with your playing without the ball crap. Not everyone can play without the ball! Playing without the ball requires a whole different skillset than playing with the ball in your hands, and neither one is more effective than the other. More importantly, playing without the ball requires you to have really good passers and guys who understand the game well enough to block for you at the right spot and get you the ball exactly when you need it. Not every team has the luxury to have those guys, and most of the time its better to let the guy handle and create for himself to either draw attention then dish, or charge straight to the hoop for the foul and 1.

Just because someone excels at playing with the ball doesn't mean its "bad". Your boy Wafer plays with the ball, and for that matter so do Kobe Bryant, LBJ, CP3 and Wade. Would you tell either of those guys they need to play without the ball? Its like you're some kind of robot, if a guard is struggling your comment is automatically "he needs to play without the ball". Sheesh

nobody wanted von this past summer when he was healthy....

but what is so attractive about him as a player now that would make a team want to add him to their roster, especially coming off another instance of not getting along with his coach (in greece)

Well except teams that offered less than the Greek team....you know...like uh...the ROCKETS....whom Morey said they had a number they wanted Von back for.....but hey, why deal in facts?

He adds another scoring option off the bench at a spot we deserperatly need efficient scoring from......we have no true NBA ready SG on the roster.

And Von would be able to fill that role, no one is saying he is a savior, but when Cbud is hurt, or Battier and Trevor are struggling it would allow Rick to have another scoring option to put in and change the tempo.

Imagine Von running with Lowry and Landry...and Cbud....I mean that is one potent offensive team.

How much did Morey offer him and for how many years? Please share the facts with us...

I know one fact I can share here - Morey gave JT a 2-year guaranteed contract, and before he gave one to CBud I might add...

I think the Rockets only sign him if there's another injury to their SG/SF rotation. Even then, it'd only be a stopgap measure for this season.

Still, he'd be a pretty good alternative for the short term.
