Some, you and I are gonna have some fun with the haters when he blows up.....not many were left in his corner..... DD
I can't see a backcourt of Nate Robinson and Von Wafer working out. Especially, defense would be a problem. Wafer would be a good third-string guard but I think the Celtics need a better player for their primary backup for Ray Allen.
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16966 Wafer on signing with Boston: http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/07/von-wafer-talks-about-joining-celtics/ More:
We actually featured him in our offense and started him a couple of games. Boston won't do that. But I can see him getting PT. They still got Marquis Daniels who can play his position.
I think it is funny how people on this board hate any Rockets player who contributed a good deal to the team and left to go elsewhere. Once they are gone, everyone diminishes their contributions (Wafer, Artest, etc).
Right now Daniels would be playing the 3 as Boston has no one else behind Pierce (unless Harangody, who looked great in summer league, makes the transition to small forward). The back up off guards are Wafer and Avery Bradley... ...unless another trade is made. But if there is another deal it's going to be for a big man where the Celtics are really thin with Perkins out until late winter or spring.
This will be Wafer's 5th year in the NBA. He's been busy spreading his great talents all over the league. Until the Rox gave him a shot, he'd averaged less than 60 minutes played PER SEASON. So far, he's played for: Lakers Clippers Nuggets Blazers Rockets $10 to the Clutchfund says we can add the Celtics and AT LEAST one other team by the end of this season. Any takers?
He played with the Mavs at the end of last season just so you know. And I don't think he will going anywhere else this season, he is gonna stay in Boston.
Landry 2. Before the Trade: Mandry; Killer Carl, murderer of the 4th quarter. After the Trade: An undersized pf with no defense and weak rebounding.
Good catch. Although he was on the Mavs for 10 days, he never actually PLAYED. I'll redo my previous post... This will be Wafer's 5th year in the NBA. He's been busy spreading his great talents all over the league. Until the Rox gave him a shot, he'd averaged less than 60 minutes played PER SEASON. In his 4 previous NBA seasons, he's been on: Lakers Clippers Nuggets Blazers Rockets Mavs $10 to the Clutchfund says we can add the Celtics and AT LEAST one other team by the end of this season. Any takers?
I, like many CF posters wanted him back, but the Rockets didn't want to commit Wafer to a long term contract.
We were the only team that gave him 2 chances after what he did to team chemistry in the playoffs. That is more than sufficient. IMO the MVP of the DLeague deserved it more than him.
It is true. Unbelievable but true. <object width="388" height="394" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="ep"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="movie" value="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/top_plays/2009/01/07/nba_20090107_botn.nba" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><embed src="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/top_plays/2009/01/07/nba_20090107_botn.nba" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="388" wmode="transparent" height="394"></embed></object> <object width="388" height="394" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="ep"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="movie" value="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/top_plays/2009/05/12/nba_20090512_botn.nba" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><embed src="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&videoId=channels/top_plays/2009/05/12/nba_20090512_botn.nba" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="388" wmode="transparent" height="394"></embed></object> Blocked by Vujabiatch
That's how good bench players are made. Selfishness. They come in for their spurts to get their own and leave while the starters rest. Not good enough to be given chances in the starting crew, but significantly better than the secondary crew. Most good 6th mans are the 3rd or 4th most talented player on their team, but just have too many selfish drawbacks which hold them as 6th man on a top tier team.
