Didn't see this thread the first time around.

sadly it's true...when it really comes down to it, everything other than water and tea is terrible for you. I've gone stretches of drinking water and green tea only (currently trying to banish diet coke from my diet for good) and it does amazing things for burning fat, clearing up your skin, regulating digestion and just overall making you feel MUCH better. and I am an absolute soda addict. It's worth it to feel good.

Wow, I had not heard of that. verrrry interesting stuff!

just about to finish off my first bottle of Melatonin thanks to this thread. highly recommended for anyone struggling with their quality of sleep. runs a little over $5 and has lasted me close to two months now.

still taking Fish Oil and B-12 per doctors reccomendation. Fish Oil you can ussually find in bulk for somewhere around $20 and will last you about 3 months. B-12 runs about the same as melatonin as far as cost and duration.

I've also cut out most caffeine in my diet recently...still have the occasional coffee or caffeinated tea. But mostly, over the last few weeks, i've been having the yoga detox tea

My wife is on a super healthy kick...we're both drinking a ton more tea, and she's all but completely thrown sodas out entirely. I still sneak a Dr. Pepper 10 at work to prove I'm a real man. ;) And I'll never quit coffee, because I'm in love with it. I'm pretty inspired by her, though...amazing willpower.

Thanks to the contributors in this thread...particuarly DonnyMost...for the recommendation regarding melatonin. It's helped me sleep much better as well.

    ...grass.

It's not terrible though. Not really as bad as a shot of wheat grass or something. It's not that bad at all, imo. No lingering aftertaste or burping it up later

I havent mixed it with anything, but my lady said she mixed it with chocolate protein shake and it was good.

This has been a good thread to read. I have gotten started drinking diet zero cokes and noticed my sweet tooth is back. I will cut them out and try some cinnamon bark and try to kill the sweet tooth.

Anybody know if oolong tea helps? I think I was drinking several cups of it a day when I didn't have a sweet tooth.

My memory has gone to he!! in a hand basket any help there?

    coffee benefits

It’s surprising when something that was once considered questionable for your health turns out to have health benefits, usually with the proviso to use it “in moderation.” That happened with chocolate and alcohol, and now it is coffee’s turn, reports the February issue of the Harvard Health Letter. Here’s some of the mostly good news about coffee:

Blood pressure. Results from long-term studies are showing that coffee may not increase the risk for high blood pressure over time, as previously thought. Study findings for other cardiovascular effects are a mixed bag.

Cancer. Coffee might have anti-cancer properties. Last year, researchers found that coffee drinkers were 50% less likely to get liver cancer than nondrinkers. A few studies have found ties to lower rates of colon, breast, and rectal cancers.

Cholesterol. Two substances in coffee — kahweol and cafestol — raise cholesterol levels. Paper filters capture these substances, but that doesn’t help the many people who now drink non-filtered coffee drinks, such as lattes. Researchers have also found a link between cholesterol increases and decaffeinated coffee, possibly because of the type of bean used to make certain decaffeinated coffees.

Diabetes. Heavy coffee drinkers may be half as likely to get diabetes as light drinkers or nondrinkers. Coffee may contain chemicals that lower blood sugar. A coffee habit may also increase your resting metabolism rate, which could help keep diabetes at bay.

Parkinson’s disease. Coffee seems to protect men, but not women, against Parkinson’s disease. One possible explanation for the sex difference may be that estrogen and caffeine need the same enzymes to be metabolized, and estrogen captures those enzymes.

You're so right. Recently, with all of these threads lately. I wanted to eat better and I do feel great as of late. Eating breakfast really helps. For a big majority of my life I always skipped that meal.

I layed off soda, and I'm pretty much trying to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from my diet but that stuff is in everything. Drinking tea and water is not as hard as I thought but if I do want a soda, I'll buy some Mexican coke in a glass bottle as it uses cane sugar.

you are not alone, my wife had the same problem and stopped taking it (until her sleep started to suffer again and she sucked it up)

as with anything you put in your body, everyone will react a little differently. moderation is key

How much are you taking? Is this right before bed or just in the evening? Before or after a workout? I'm trying to understand the relationship of how it works and the timing of when you take it, etc.

You guys make me chuckle. Most of the effect you're feeling is what you expect to feel. The ability to do better was inside of you all along!

I don't know if this relates to this thread, but I just started a new job this past week and majority of the time I'm staring at the computer. After about 2 hrs my eyes are getting heavy, and even if I take a short break and sit back down I'll feel sleepy again. I drink the free coffee, hot tea and maybe a can of soda there to try to get some caffeine.

My previously job I was in sales, so I would be always walking around talking to customers. I could sleep 5-6 hrs and go to work and be fine and wide awake after work.

For my new job, I'm sleeping at 10:30pm and waking up at 6:30am to go to work. I'll feel sleepy (which is not normal for me) trying to stay up, get headache, and feel real tired by the time I get home at 6pm.

Some might think the new job is boring and maybe that's the issue, but I've gone from being a sales associate at a local store to working corporate in downtown Houston. I'm guessing this is how most of us are working?

Any advice or eating or supplements I can take before going to work?

    I've been drinking lemon+hot water.

Contrary to what some people may believe or think, Lemon is alkaline. Always good to maintain body pH, seen that drinking lemon with HOT water everyday has really shown differences in my appetite and my overall hunger.

    Look into it yall.
