You didn't give me one example of how I am full of it. The article was a slam on the shuttle and the predictions are horribly wrong in hindsight.

I'm not making an argument about public versus private for space flight just that tragedies should be expected as we push into space. I will say though that if we are truly to move out into space it will need to be commercialized.

Everywhere I have read about this (Facebook, online comment sections, Clutchfans) it has degenerated into a govt vs private debate. How tiring. I'm inspired by the fact that a private company continues to have such lofty goals and that a pilot gave his life for a cause.

I am with those who wonder how the 2nd pilot survived! It looks like the entire craft practically vaporized - at so many thousand feet.

    Incredible.

There is no way to explore space travel and make it safe. This isn't commercial aviation. And that has enormous regulations placed upon it.

This is the equivalent of the people who invented sky-diving. It's close to an extreme sport. You are pushing the limits of flight and doing fairly complex maneuvers to provide passengers a thrill.

I won't be surprised if this happens a few more times before they get it right.

I find it a bit distasteful that Branson immediately says "it's worth it" when one of his pilots has just died. At least shut up for a few days. It's insensitive to the family of the pilot, in my opinion.

If God wanted us to go to space he would have made it to where we could breath out there

thats because hes not worried about a dead pilot all he is worried about is how much this is going to cost him and how long it will be before he can send more people into space.

the pilot had to have known the risks. The risks were worth it to the employee when he signed up.
