Can't wait to read the article 10 years from now on how broke Royce White is as he tries to use his anxiety disorder to keep his unemployment checks coming in. Dude is a joke.

I don't get why he "LOL'd" at that tweet - there's nothing funny there. And the description of his performance by the coach...

Doesn't look like it will go well. He talks a mature talk on the talk shows, but clear he doesn't have the head to succeed. It's a shame. He's a non-story.

It's clear that his work ethic is crap. He was able to do so well in college because you can rely on just pure skill and athleticism at that point and be quite successful.

Now he's regressed, gained weight, badmouthed the rockets, and is getting trashed by a d-league coach. I'd say he's close to the point of no return for a basketball player.

If he continues at this negative pace he'll never make it close to an NBA roster.

Lets hope that he has a realization of some sorts and gets his **** together, because as of right now, he is just a waste of a draft pick

Hope he learns, but it seems like Rockets have given up considering they picked up Thomas Robinson.

Royce White never bend his knees on defense even when he's back in Iowa. When he was in college, he used to drift around on defense and never fully bend his knees which is why he always get beat...

Some people here are saying "give him some more time"... But honestly, Royce is playing in the D-League and he's struggling like that and had so sense of urgency when they were down big. Royce White basically dragged the whole entire team with him down from his attitude.

Imagine if he was playing in an NBA game. The D-League is nothing compare to the NBA. T-Will went to the D-League and was averaging triple doubles and he's just now signing a 10 day contract with the Celtics.

This whole entire time when Royce was away from the team, he did not bother to work on conditioning or tried to improve his game at all. Any player with a true passion for the game would at least work on their game on their free time. Royce White basically had half the season off. He threw a party based on the All Star weekend and took like a week to drive to LA to get an interview with Dr. Phil. It seems like he have so much free time on his hand and yet, he doesn't use any free time to improve his game. He only practice when he have to with the team he is with and that's only if he shows up...

This guy is like T-Will but without the athleticism, and the offensive skills. When you really think about it, he's unique but there are plenty of NBA players who are also unique. He doesn't bring that much to the table at all. He's not athletic and is undersized to play the PF position. Against the typical PF in the NBA, he will definitely struggle because of his lack of size and lesser athletic ability. On top of that, he doesn't have a shooting touch to make him a stretch 4 at all.

Royce may have better ball handling abilities and passing skills for a big man but his weaknesses out-weights his strengths. He isn't a good defender because he takes defensive plays off, doesn't bend his knees into defensive position, and often gets beat off the dribble.

Honestly, Morey thought Royce was a top 5 talent but in the past years, Morey never really strike gold with his picks. He didn't strike gold with Morris and Patterson was just an average player. The only player that he drafted well was Parsons. Morey is a genius at flipping draft picks and turning it into gold, but he's wasn't always a success at drafting good talent. That's why I believe Morey made a mistake drafting Royce White.

If the 3 games isn't D-League games and NBA games, then its different. But its D-League and he's struggling there. Usually with NBA talent, they should easily dominate the DL but Royce isn't much of a standout. In the NBA, he won't have a chance at all the way he's going...

Plus, he's not all upside. If you really think about it, his weaknesses outweighs his strengths by a large margin. Just think about it...

Royce White is 6'8, around 250 lbs. That's pretty decent size for an NBA forward. He has above average ball handling abilities and passing skills for a big man. He has a good court vision and with his size, he can see over opponents and be able to make the pass to an open teammate. But that's all he got going for him.

Even though he is 6'8, he is still undersized to play the PF position. He also lack the explosiveness, which is why he struggles against longer and more athletic players, which he will see every night in the NBA. He doesn't have a good shooting touch and the agility and quickness to play the perimeter like Morris. Because of that, his game is limited.

When Royce was in college, it was easier for him to be successful because there's not that many bigger and more athletic players he have to play against. But in the NBA, almost every big man will have an advantage over White. He does have the strength but lacks the quickness.

On defense, he tends to take plays off, and doesn't put much effort into it. When he's playing man on man defense, he doesn't bend his knees defensively and usually get beat off the dribble.

Overall, Royce does have some upside but so does every NBA rookie. The Rockets have 4 forwards that are rookies and each and every one of them have just as much upside as White but more. Jones has the length and the athleticism and explosiveness to excel and so does Robinson. D-Mo has the unique skills and a good post game and also a good shooting touch which will make him a special player down the road.

The difference between Royce White and the other 3 rookies the Rockets have is that the other 3 rookies have better work ethic than Royce. Jones, Robinson and D-Mo are all striving to improve their games and are working hard to get better everyday while Royce has been taking a very long vacation and just now gotten back and still manages to find the time to ride his RV all the way to LA to do an interview with Dr. Phil.

Those kind of things are just unheard of in the NBA. No NBA players have the time to do stuff like that unless its the offseason but Royce manages to do all of these interviews and stuff during the season. If he truly wanted to improve his game and be the best player he can be, he would have worked on his game from the beginning and even if he was away from the team, he would of find the time and use every opportunity to improve and work on his weaknesses. But the entire time he was away from the team, he never set foot in the gym. That shows you the type of dedication he has.

All this Royce stuff is over-reaction. The man is young, very skilled with the ball in his hands and just needs to see the opportunity in front of him. He's fun to watch, but has rust that needs shaking.

I'm sure most of ya'll have been a little out of shape before, but when you are a professional, that gets magnified. I think Royce has a decent attitude considering all the factors and is hardly worth getting frustrated over.

Sit back and enjoy the growth! He was a helluva college player and needs minutes.

Don't listen to everyone Royce, just work down in the valley, enjoy one of those nice botanas after a hard day at work and look forward to all you'll do in the NBA. Talent + Hard Work > Skeptics.

Geez, the vitriol in this thread...

You'd think this kid committed a crime or something. To actually wish ill-will for a guy who, however misguided you may think he carried it out, fought for his medical rights.

It's one thing if you don't think he'll pan out. But to wish that he fails is a reflection on your character.

No need to go all out and try too hard. The guy has his fans but his doubters outweigh former.
I think McHale wanted him and Morey sugarcoated his talent to be possibly Top 5 in the draft which would have meant he is as talented as Robinson.

I think this year and next season we will see what kind of player he really is.

I wouldn't expect him to do well this season, since he's getting his college-to-NBA shock therapy right now. I'm more interested in seeing what he does during the offseason, which is when he should be improving his skills. If he hasn't improved by the beginning of next season, that's when I would pass judgement on him.

no downside to parking him in the d-league and seeing if he ever figures it out

that is, unless his attitude inhibits the development of other players on RGV

And as long as he plays at least up to D league standards. If he's so terrible the Vipers bench him then the Rockets might as well cut bait.

Does he even have any supporters left?

He's not that good. So what, he can make no look passes to the left? His handles are overrated. No defense. He's just not a good player.

Too add to that, he has no heart, no drive, super lazy, and so far a cancer to both teams he's a part of after college.

I say use that money for some music lessons because that's all he got. And boy does he really need some serious lessons.

too early to think about waiving but i think Morey won't have an easy time deciding if he should pick up White's option for year 3 or not.
