I agree. Every time I notice that she is an official my 1st thoughts are, "OH NO..." Shes terrible and has no clue on MANY calls. I am glad that Im not the only 1 that seems to notice and dont feel like such a sexiest.
The Rockets played Russian Roulette with the Nuggets today. No one knew where the final bullet was gonna land, but eventually the bad calls turned Denver's way in the final 3 minutes. Like I said, we are not the only team that she screws on a regular basis, but she still hurt us by diminishing the authenticity of this game. I cannot say who was the better team today because there was a third team on the court hogging the ball. The NBA. Where the most legitimacy problems of any sport in America happens.

it's not just violeta. It's every single ref in the league. Then they use this excuse, " big man are so hard to officiate." That's nonsense. A foul is a foul. The best thing for yao to do is to go to court and legally change his last name to james or something.
The refs are the ones who make reffing the big men waaaay too complicated, convoluted, and inconsistent. Sometimes they allow all the contact in the world, sometimes they call ticky-tack stuff on them. JUST BE CONSISTENT!!! If they simply decided to guard the post plays like they guard the perimeter ones (minimal contact allowed), then they will clean up A LOT of the problems that they've created. Instead, they let them have a virtual wrestling match in the paint (worse than what happens in the trenches in the NFL), they allow all sorts of hacking/contact on the shots (since they've already allowed all the physical stuff already), and then they have to live with the big men complaining non-stop when they slightly bump or outrebound a smaller player. The main problem the league has is that there are so few quality scoring big men in the league right now... and really only ONE or TWO of them is a true low-post player. Even more reason for the refs to simply be consistent with the big men and treat them like everyone else. Clean it up.
Not his fault. He couldn't see it because he was behind Yao on the baseline. One of the other 2 refs should have made the foul call.
The league would do well to hire more women, so that the incompetent ones can stand out purely on the basis of their incompetence.
Violet's nickname should be "Greased Palmer." Her calls are so bad the NBA has to suspect she is following on the heels of Tim Donaghy.
The only reason Violet is an NBA ref is because she's a woman. I have nothing against female refs, but if a female ref is bad she should be treated the same way as a male ref--sent to the D league of refs.
I agree that she's not a good ref, but it's hard to tell if she's that much worse than anyone else. She stands out because of her gender. On any given night, it seems like the Refs do a terrible job reffing the rockets. The only time the calls seem right is when Jaffie or Bavetta is calling the game.
