Is this the most offensive, short sighted and loaded campaign ad since Sarah Palin's Crosshairs on Gabrielle Giffords? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kxw4uZAezaI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Keep in mind that he's running for representation in the same state where the brutal Vincent Chin murder was perpetrated, when there was an intense fear of losing jobs to a growing Asian economic power, just like today. The actress has a typical California accent in the first half of the video, until she somehow magically starts speaking in broken Engrish and adding a bad accent to the end of her words. She's supposed to represent Chinese manufacturers, but instead she's in a rice paddy with a conical hat, ala Vietnam in the 1970s? And what is his defense? The actress' parents were 100% Chinese, and it's not about racism, but economic policy? I'm sure that your campaign didn't mean to stoke any racial flames, or hit on the one issue that unites every tea party voter. I'm sure that it was just a shocking ad to get people talking about your name, and you certainly wouldn't double down on the racist imagery, right? http://www.debbiespenditnow.com/
Esteban approved this message! OP is reaching way too much, what bad accent are you talking about at the end of the ad? Would hit if esteban is still single!
Sad that you condone this kind of overt racism. Again, this is less than 30 years to the date of one of the most violent hate crimes in American history; it's the equivalent of using the imagery of lynchings to get the vote out in the deep south.
Yes, because every Asian in California has no idea how to use prepositions and tenses... Again, if this is about business and not about ethnicity, then show all these Corporations that are stealing away jobs. Heck, tap into all that populist anger against big business, rather than play up hackneyed stereotypes?
I agree that was a terrible ad so loaded with stereotypes and American ignorance of Asia to be offensive. BUT I don't think that is anything close to being Vincent Chin II. If Pete Hoekstra kills an Asian-American and pretty much gets away with it then you have an apt comparison.
I do find it interesting how certain posters get sexually excited by a Republican attack ad done with as much racial sensitivity as a Charlie Chan movie.
The website has broken english phrases like: "Your economy get very weak, ours get very good." Shamelessly racist.
