looks like philly is gonna play vick as a qb. he's only 29, they are grooming him to takeover. sucks for kolb
Of course he's listed as a QB. I'm wondering where this "grooming him to take over" stuff is coming from.
your loyalty to kolb is hilarious the way you rag on vy fans. but I digress. deal with it. if they don't want him to play, but are practicing him at qb, why would they be the team to take on the criticism if they don't want him.
I ask you to provide some proof of your claim and you balk and basically call me a hypocrite. Incredible. You seriously want to compare Me+Kolb to CF.net VY nuthuggers? Have you forgotten the last 3 years on this BBS or something? I'm just astounded you would even try to pull that card. But whatever, not getting into another stupid pissing contest with you. And for what it is worth, one week on a practice field and a 2 year contract doesn't usually scream "grooming for replacement" to me.
What makes you think he was signed to replace McNabb? I think he was signed to be a specialty weapon and take over if McNabb gets hurt.
One week on a practice field and a 2 year contract doesn't usually scream "grooming for replacement" to me. I'll wait for Andy Reid (as tight lipped as he is anyway), to tell me more about the situation.
you guys are right, they just wanted to see vick throw the ball, lets forget he's the most toxic nfl player right
You think they signed someone who's never been a good thrower of the football to replace McNabb in an offensive system that relies almost entirely on the football being thrown well? Really?
My two cents.... One thing to look at is the length of the contract, which is really just one year with a team option for a 2nd. No long term risk or commitment for the Eagles there. Secondly, Vick possesses athletic abilities (when in football shape) that many other Quarterbacks don't possess. So, he can be used in a trick play, or Wildcat-ish formation, in ways that can be more effective than throwing in an RB or WR that might have the running ability but arguably can't make that downfield pass to keep defenses honest. Third, some teams that succeed most are all about acquiring assets. Meaning, if Vick succeeds, Philly still has the option to keep him, or they can deal him. I think the "toxicity" will die down, and if it was truly that toxic, they wouldn't have signed him. But if Vick thrives, then Philly suddenly has an asset they can deal for a medium to high draft pick. So, in many ways, it's low risk for Philly, with a potential to yield high reward, in my opinion. But I agree that I don't see any signs that point to Vick as a replacement for McNabb, other than in an injury situation. Sure that could change, but I don't think that's the original plan.
Vick, he took a fairly average team to NFC Championship Game. 14th ranked Defense and slightly below average receivers. You can say that much about Vick, he has never really played on a great team. Also, he would've never been benched in favor of Kerry Collins.
