i dont like vincer....... why not trade t-mac? ah......but i also wish rockets have a good start ....
Right now, any deal, either for Artest or McGrady, sounds appealing. What worries me greatly, is Carters long/huge contract. I cant imagine him being productive for 4 more years. Hes gonna be 35!! Its a massive commitment IMO. I just dont know if the slim chance for success this year and next, is worth the risk of being forced to be mediocore for 4 years to come due to being tied down to bad contracts.
This is where I'm most concerned, too. I have no problem with moving Ron, and think the Rockets should be aggressive about it if they're sure they're not bringing him back next year. But I'd rather they take lesser talent for Ron than be stuck with a long contract on a older guy that binds them up.
his contract is 3 years with a team option for the 4th.......so he would basically be here for 2 years....why i am saying this is because he would be a huge expiring going into that 3rd year which would make him excellent trade bait
So does anyone else think that trading Artest for Carter will be like having 2 T-mac's on the team. Im not a full blown T-mac hater I think he still will make some noise in the playoffs. But it seems like both VC and T-Mac both have the same general skill sets, they both dont take it to the hole as much anymore, they both have admitted to "not trying" for their teams, they both dont play alot of defense, they both are drama queens. Im not sure who would be better for this team VC or Mac but chose one, dont give away a workhorse, hardnose defender, and sometimes a good scorer. For another overskilled, underacheving, effortless wing player. This team needs toughness, this team needs defense, this team needs Artest not 2 Tmacs Yes! My First Post!
Well almost a nice 1st post, but what one does or doesnt do, you make it seem like it fits both players. That is not entirely true.
i could be wrong but doesnt that mean that he is here for at least 3 years then? which means rest of this year plus 2 more which means he is on our books at least until the end of the 2011/2012 season. Thats still a very long time to have an ageing star who inevitably will be in decline. Couple that with the so called 'window of opportunity' for Yao Ming. It is unlikely by 2011/2012 that Yao is going to be a superstar centre still which means that we waste his talent as well if Carter declines after this season or even next.
Carl is young, and most young player are looking for minutes and money, not wins. He could start in New Jersey, which isn't happening here as long as we have a healthy Scola. I'm not sure at all that he vetoes the deal.
this is a really good point......he would start along side Lopez and get the minutes that he can't get here......I myself kind of want to see this anyway just to see how productive he could be if he had the minutes
To Clarify, Im not arguing whose better VC or Mac , Im just saying its better to have a truck and a sports car then two sports cars
Getting a star like VC for a guy you aren't going to sign again anyway like Artest and a pretty good role player in Landry is more than you could expect. Great deal for Houston, bad deal for the Nets other than the fact that they cut payroll. Also if you sign Boone, he can backup Yao when Deke retires this year. Make the deal Morey.
It would be hard to watch the Brooks-Mcgrady-VC-Scola-Yao lineup. Yao's going to have his hands full covering for all those guys after they get blown by.
If we want to win we need to get rid of Tmac. That's just bottom line. This would eliminate the power struggle of who's no 1.
