So Vince is a dumbass for wanting to be traded from a team that hasn't gotten him any help. But Peja isn't a dumbass when he already plays on one of the deeper teams in the league.

The thread starter IS misleading everyone... knowing that everyone isn't going to register to read the story - and that wasn't even the link where the news was originally broken. It came from Frank Isola from the NY Daily News - that should tell you everything. Any talk about going to NY is speculation by Isola and was not confirmed by Carter's agent.

Here is the important quote from the original article:

Vince Carter's agent revealed yesterday that the All-Star swingman met with Toronto Raptors management two weeks ago and asked the club to explore trade possibilities.

"We did meet and asked them to look into trades," Mark Steinberg said in a telephone interview. "They know where we stand."

I fail to see how this makes anything final, or proves Vince absolutely wants out. There is a very big difference between "exploring trade possibilities" and "demanding a trade". No one denies that a trade discussion happened weeks ago, but it's not clear what criteria either side requires for a deal to be done, or whose pushing the matter. "Knowing where we stand" could mean any number of things, including that Carter has a short list of teams he'd go to, or even that he'd prefer to stay if other conditions are met.

Raps GM Rob Babcock and even Carter himself have been quoted recently - after the supposed meeting over 2 weeks ago - that they're on the same page and want to see what they can do this season. Carter's unhappiness has nothing to do with Babcock or new Coach Sam Mitchell and is directed at upper management. Babcock and Mitchell have apparently managed to win over Carter for the time being,

That said, Ray Allen has come out and said that if Toronto is going to pull a deal that he'd be very interested in playing for the Raptors. He shot a movie here some time ago, likes the city a great deal and is said to have close ties to people here who he visits often.

Vince is a dumbass because he's quitting on his team, plain and simple.

Peja wants to leave because his favorite teammate was traded and another teammate dissed him in public.

Now, if the Raptors let Morris Petersno walk and then Jalen Rose called Vince out in public, then I'd understand.

Besides, the Kings' run is over. Even with Divac, they would've have won the championship. Christie, Webber and Divac were all ageing. Bobby Jackson too. Their bench is not deep like it used to be: where's the depth you refer to? Only Bobby Jackson remains from their original bench mob. They couldn't possibly take out a halthy Spurs or Wolves team in the playoffs. Hell, I don't think they'd even be able to take the Rockets.
