I saw that play. Bowen intentionally undercut him and should be suspended for as many games as Carter is out.
I saw that play three times at different angles. I've only got to say if there is a law on the basketball court, that mofo should be sent straight to jail with that crap. Bowen has entrenched himself in hall of shame with that dirty play.
carters a joke. he'll probably sit on IR and then just go out and jump around on stage at rap concerts like he did last time.
The league should look into this. If the Raptors feel strongly, why don't they just get a video guy to put together Bowen's greatest hits and present the evidence. Bowen clearly did this on purpose and should be fined and suspended. If someone commits a hard foul that the league views had an intent to harm, you draw a fine and maybe suspension, depending on the egregiousness. Well, in my mind, Bowen's behavior is no better and arguably worse. What if it had been a torn ACL? I could personally give a crap about VC, but this kinda stuff should not pass unpunished.
I also saw the play on SportsCenter. To me it looked like Bowen DID step into Carter while he was in the air.
What's wrong with u? We are talking about VC, not your freaking SF?! Please don't come up with all those craps! Just pathetic.
I think that the problem with this is that when you go suspension, you involve the union, at which point it becomes legalistic, and it's pretty hard to prove intent, no matter how apparent it looks. Unlike other areas which rwsult in suspension, I don't think that this is something already outlined with pre-set consequences, so I doubt it would hold up. I don;t really know, though. It does seem pretty damned obvious, which amazes me. You're messing with a guy's career, and the most popular NBA player, to boot. Additionally, few teams rely on one player as much as the Raptors rely on Carter, so you are, as Bowen, taking a chance with A) Another guy's career, B) A league's hottest ticket, and C) a team's chances at winning, and an entire ctiy's fan base's motivation...all so you can win a game/stop being torched. Unbelievable priorities. I doubt inuring Carter was his primary intent, but it's an automatic possibility when you do that. A guy in mid air, concentrating on his shot is completely vulnerable, and cannot adjust.
It's interesting to hear Duncan's reaction about it. Dirty talk Quietly around the NBA, they're whispering about San Antonio's Bruce Bowen and asking the question: Is he a dirty player? The discussion took place in the Sonics' locker room last night, a day after Bowen was involved in a play that led to Toronto's Vince Carter spraining his ankle. The All-Star guard is expected to miss the next four weeks. Television replays showed Bowen slid his foot beneath Carter as Carter leaped for a jump shot. When Carter descended, his foot landed awkwardly on Bowen's foot. "I don't think he (Bowen) did it intentionally," Allen said. "That's just the way that Bruce plays." Still, Allen believes Bowen's defensive tactics cross the line. Allen recounted: "When we were at the All-Star Game, Tim Duncan asked me, and we were in front of Peja (Stojakovic, Sacramento), and he asked me, 'Is Bruce Bowen dirty?' I said, 'Hell, yeah, he's dirty.' And Peja was like, 'I don't think so ... well, sometimes.' "I was like, 'The only reason you say that is because you're catching it and shooting it. He doesn't have a chance to put his hands up on you.' And Tim was like, 'Yeah, maybe you have a point.' ... He knows. The whole league knows about Bruce."
Anyone see Best Damn Sports Show yesterday? Jalen Rose said he knows it was intentional, and the next time they meet Bowen will get what's coming for him. The guys asked him if he'd deliver a little extra blow if Bowen came through the lane, and Jalen said yes. Bruce may want to fake an injury the next time they play Toronto.
I saw the replay and he stepped right underneath of him after the release of the shot. Its intentional. Watching the replay of him kicking Wally in the jaw, I think thats intentional. To bite on a pump fake is one thing, but to extend your leg toward a guys head is another.
Bruce Lee "Take You Out" Bowen is a dirty player no doubt. The replay couldn't prove it more obviously. The dude doesn't have much an offensive game. He plays the so called "defense" by threatening the opponents star players with injury-risky plays. The same thing happened with Ray Allen, and Kobe Bryant. Bowen is in the same class as Karl "the Dirty" Malone.
Man, looking at the play with Wally Szczerbiak....LOL, since when do you extend your foot out at like that when you get faked out of your boots? If that wasn't a basketball clip, I swear it would pass for a kung-fu clip. Anyways, you know I don't think Bowen did it intentionally, I think he's already conditioned to do that sort of thing to other players especially star players. Just like someone posted what Ray Allen said, that's how he plays, and yes, it's pretty dirty.
Isn't this the same Jalen Rose who intentionally hurt Mario Elie's wrist, costing us our bid for a three-peat? (ok that last part was exaggerated).
I just saw the video. He looked like that guy from Mortal Kombat. Can't remember the name, the one who did the kick across the screen.
Bowen is a sad fart...best defender in the league my a$$. Bowen and other Spurs were laughing at Vince rolling on the coourt like he'd been shot.(was kinda funny since he does that every time...though this time he was really hurt) Bowen is a f@G.
I've seen it several times. When Bowen rushes at a guy taking or faking a shot, he'd jump to challenge the shot. At the same time, he'd kick his legs out , and stretches his arms both ways.... He wants to make sure if he gets faked out, he can catch a part of the opponent and not let him drive by. Worse thing that could happen to Bruce is that he is called for a foul, ball out of bound for his opponent. He does not care if he hit or hurt anyone. Very effective defense and very dirty!
