They can afford it if they are willing to go into Luxary Tax land. Some teams like the Mavs, Knicks and Blazers have owners that are willing to do that. They are hugely rich. Alexander has money, but not falling out of his pocket like those owners.

Carter is playing the best ball in the league right now --- hands down! The guy is doing it all by himself, not relying heavily on a PG to create dunks or easy shots for him. That's why he is a superstar.
I used to love watching Carter play, hes great but until he learns how not to be a jackass and works out so he doesnt get injured like a lil girl.
