The thing about Carter is he can shoot. He will be overpayed, but probably still a functional player at 35.

If I am Houston, Dallas, Phx, Cleve, Utah NO--I might think landing Carter without an overbearing cost gets me a fighting chance for a title.

I think he'd be fine on the Rockets and he might be exactly what we need actually but my post was directed to the comparison to KG and to Carter having heart. He's definitely no KG and he's proven both with his play and his own words that he's soft and doesn't have much heart.

KG was unfailry labeled as a chiker (he got to the WCF the only season he had help). However, when were Pierce and Allen known as chokers?

For those opposing the VC trade target, he has actually got an acceptable contract compared to Redd, Hinrich, and many other stars who put up similar stats each night. The intangibles you guys say he lack can probably be solved by a change of scenary into a serious contender, and also you know hes got his cousin here in Houston......

Don't want to give up too much for him but you saw how easily they let go of Jefferson and VC is supposed to be the harder contract to move and I'm pretty sure they shopped VC more than RJ...

I don't like the idea of giving up Battier in a trade for Carter.

I don't want to be one of those fans who thinks Battier walks on water, but Tmac is already a lazy defender at best.

If we're interested in Carter, we can get him without giving up Battier.

See what I'm getting at here? If we were trading them for each other, that post would've been valid, but we're not. We're putting them on the same team in hopes of advancing further and winning it all. We've seen it work before, so hell, lets do it too.

it make no sense for the Nets to send VC over to Cavs where he might help the team enough for King James to want to stay there

I see your point and it does make sense. I just hope we can get some more toughness as well.

If they just want expiring contracts + picks which I assume they do (as they are gonna try to get to under 25-30 mill under cap to make a real run at Mr. James)

    Rockets:
VC (he would be our 2nd scorer, and Tmac would become a 3rd scorer and a passer first that would be sexy :D)
    13.5 mill

    Nets:
    Francis: 2.5 mill
Bjax: 5.5 mill (can't be traded till june 30th)
    Luther: 1.5 mill
    Hayes: 1.75 mill
    + Picks if they want

    Total: 11.25 x 125% = PLENTY.

What a great trade that would be. Rockets would be LOADED!!

Yeh, I was thinking about that. Wouldn't LeBron just stay with the Cavs b/c they would be better?

And I know other teams are now jumping on the Nets phone lines, offering up trades like crazy.

The old Adelman Kings team that should have went to the finals had mentally tough Peja Stojakovic and Chris Webber on it. I'd think a group of Yao, McGrady and Carter would be as tough collectively.

Imagine the likely scenario of when McGrady is out with injury...how absolutely nice would it be to have instead of Luther Head starting in place you have Vince Carter to take the reins. I'd go with that mentally soft option every time

I've been wanting to get Vince to the rockets for 2 years now. I've even done it on videogames, It works so well.
    Not the case though.

What i want to say is that, if we get him, we have to do it without giving up:
    Tracy
    Yao
    Battier
    Scola
    Landry
    Brooks
    Francis

In any other means, get him asap.
Don't let it go out of hand of course.

    I've thought about that.

Yes,I would be much happier with having Carter replacing an injured McGrady instead of Head too. I just don't know if Carter would be willing to play really hard if McGrady went down. I will admit I do think VC could propel us into the 2nd round which is the first step that's needed provided if we didn't have to give up too much for him.

i don't see any problem dealing anyone outside of tracy and Yao, i will deal brooks and francais in a heart beat, and maybe battier since he has high value right now.

    exactly, option 1-yao, option 2- t-mac, option 3 - carter.

i hope we can get him w/o losing battier.

Francis, Brooks and Landry are all expendable without jeopardizing the 'win now' mode of the Rockets.

Landry/Francis/Bjax/Head and 09' 2nd rd pick for CARTER

    Yao
    Scola/Dorsey/Hayes
    Carter/Battier/Novak
    Tmac/Green
    Rafer/Brooks

NJ will have enough free money by 2010 to try to get whoever they want.
