The Celtics better watch out and/or do something. I rank them as the third best team in the East. The Magic now occupies the 2nd spot. The C's better retool a bit and not stand pat.
I guess that's the (multi) million dollar question. I believe the Carter trade was a net increase of $4 million for the Magic's payroll, which puts them right at the luxury tax threshold. Are the increased revenues from their new stadium going to be enough to afford both Turkoglu and Gortat? I know that their GM has said he was willing to pay the luxury tax to re-sign Turk, but that was before they made their move for Carter. And as strange as it sounds, at this point, I think they need to re-sign Gortat over Turk. They are going to have absolutely no front-court depth if they don't bring him back, which is one of the big things that killed them in the finals.
All the Celtics really need is: 1) to stay healthy, 2) to add some depth. The loss of two of their front court players pretty much ruined their postseason. Barring injuries, they're still right in the mix even without adding more depth.
i put the magic as the #1 team in the LEAGUE right now. i mean, you have jameer back healthy, who was in all-star form before his injury. vince carter still gives you 20 and 5 every night, and can explode for 30+ any night. hedo is an all-around player. rashard is a matchup problem for PFs. hell, they might go vince, hedo, and rashard at the guards and SF to matchup w/ the lakers. celts, you're right, are the 3rd best team. they need another scorer.
Rockets were looking at Courtney Lee in that draft but he was taken before their pick so they took Brooks.
Disagree. I think Vince Carter is a definite upgrade over Turk, and that's no slight to Turk and his playoff accomplishments either. This was a very smart trade (and given their current financial situation, I think it pretty much assures that Turk is gone).
Oh my Gosh, I cannot belive it. Actualy I couldn't follow the draft live but damn, I was so nervous about all those trades. What a move for Orlando. Just imagine how good they can be next season, it is unbelivable. Just a great move for Otis Smith, really great. But I am afraid of what will happen in the future. Some of those trades are NASTY!
Hedo Turkoglu has pretty much ended his tenure in Orlando. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4288680&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines
I don't think anyone would suggest Rafer would start or is more valuable than Jameer Nelson. And I don't think anyone would suggest that Rafer as a backup PG is more valuable than Vince Carter as a starting SG or SF.
He brought them to the NBA finals. Of course, Jameer Nelson is their future and he's healthy now, so Rafer was expendable. Especially to get Vince Carter. Come on DaDa.
ESPN insider rumor that sheed maybe going to the Magic. If Sheed goes to Orlando.. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the finals again - that team kind of looks stacked with: Sheed Dwight Vince Carter Jameer Nelson Hedo Lewis Pietrus Although obviously they're gonna have to give up something for Sheed if they do get him
