I can't believe only ONE person mentioned Metal Gear Solid. One of the greatest and most complicated storylines in a video game franchise. The PS1 one was the best. I spent all day tricking the guards to their deaths. So... RPG: FF6, FF7, and FFX are all my favorites. RTS: You can't beat Starcraft Action/Adventure: and of course MGS
Just bought Wind Waker/Ocarina of Time for GC on Amazon. Kinda pricey, but sounds like it'll be worth-it! And I have 4 Gamecube controllers already for playing Mario Strikers, so it's all good. I'll have to give 9 another look eventually. I'm just kinda OCD with wanting to do everything. I did LOVE FFX, though. I can see the not wanting to play Xenogears over and over thing, though. I need to play it one more time, though. Only played it once. I've heard good things with people going on low-level runs through the game. I might have to try that eventually. Or just not upgrading equipment much, maybe?
God Of War II gets my vote for Action Adventure. Incredible scenery, music, perfect combat system, it had some puzzle strategy as well. Also, Kratos is probably the baddest mother in gaming. As far as fighting, Soul Calibur is still my favorite. It was a beauty to play.
...one of my brother's favorite games ever. I watched him play it a lot, but still have yet to play it myself. It's on my short list of games to play soon, though.
I love games with great balance. That's why I believe Starcraft is still the best RTS out there. Because of the perfect balance. RE4 is one game that you'd want to play it non stop until you beat it. Because it has the right amount of difficulty. It was also the most fun I've have playing the videogame. I listed Ocarina of Time for the obvious reasons, it is simply a legendary game. Another close game is KOTOR, because of its top notch story.
I forgot to add an honorable mention to my top 10 Left4Dead It is very unique and the only game of its kind. I know its a fairly recent game but it is EPIC imo
RTS: Starcraft alone at the top. MMORPG: WoW alone at the top. Racing: Gran Turismo 4. (Super Mario Kart belongs but not exactly same genre) RPG: FF7, ChronoTrigger and I think Fallout belongs right after FPS team multiplayer: COD4 FPS solo multiplayer: Quake 2 FPS singleplayer/coop: tough... Doom 2, Bioshock Platformer: Super Mario Bros. Action/Adventure: Zelda (original) Sports (for respective sports): Tecmo Bowl, Punchout, sadly NBA 2k9, Puzzle: Tetris! The original: Pong Too many honorable mentions to list
In no Order LoZ Ocarina Of Time is the Best Game Ever Super Mario 64 LoZ Twilight Princess LoZ A Link To The Past Metroid Prime LoZ Windwaker LoZ Oracle of Ages/Seasons LoZ Majora's Mask Super Smash Bros Melee GoW 2 Halo series Metal Gear Solid all 4 Obviously I'm a Zelda junkie, bot OoT is the best game and the best series ever, followed by the Metal Gears series
I think Metroid Prime 3 is an extremely underrated game, it was on my list. No game makes use of the wii controls like this game
Yeah the whole metroid series stemming from gameboy are great and underrated. The Prime series are a must play
I know there's different genres, but it's just like there's different positions in basketball, yet mostly everyone will say MJ is the greatest player of all-time. The greatest game of all-time to me has to be Final Fantasy 7. Unbelievably deep and epic storyline that continues to draw in gamers to this day. The whole FF7 Compilation will last for awhile. If they ever decide to make a re-make on PS3, look out! I would buy a PS3 specifically to play that game. I am actually replaying this game on a PSX emulator for the sake of nostalgia. PSX emulators were made to play FF games makes level up-ing so much more convenient. Other games I've been addicted to include Starcraft. Speaking of amazing and captivating story lines, Starcraft has to rank up there. Online play is just addicting. Halo is an addicting shooter with also a solid storyline (many parallels to Starcraft actually). The Mario games obviously were a classic. I love the old ones (except 2), Super Mario 64, and I really enjoyed playing Super Mario Galaxy. Epic soundtrack. Can't go wrong with Zelda either. Ocarina of Time was just amazing. Still haven't played Twilight Princess but I'm getting to it.
Twilight Princess is the closest thing to OoT, it's great, nostalgic, and you are gonna be playing for hours get to it!
RC Pro AM Spy Hunter Mario 64 1080 Snowboarding Wave Runner Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time Mass Effect Madden football (20th anniversary edition with all the games) MLB the Show 09 GoldenEye 007 COD 4 Gran Turismo 3 Mario Kart 64 GTA Vice City Sim City NBA Live 96 Granted, I havent played nearly the amount of games all of you have played, so Im missing many of the big ones. That said, this was a list of games that I played the most often.
Most under rated game of all time. I don't know how anyone can pick Zelda over this on the NES, but Zelda gets the hype while this game gets so overlooked. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zkbd63TMvKY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zkbd63TMvKY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I still like SF2HD Remix in terms of gameplay better than SF4. The two button throw system was created because people were cry babies in the older games and couldn't reverse or predict a tick/throw to save their lives. The focus attack thing still is not as good as an alpha counter. However, I am enjoying SF4 like everybody else. Their online lobby system sucks and needs to be fixed. At least in SF2HD remix, you have a blind system so nobody knows who you pick. Here people wait for you to pick first to counter pick you.
