Wow... I don't know how that slipped under my radar. I've never even heard of it. Looks like it got some pretty impressive reviews. I'll have to pick that one up.
Basically it is a remake + new campaign. I think they added enough content to the new campaign that they're calling it a sequel, but the project was originally just supposed to be a remake (due to Riddick not being playable on the 360).
To macalu's point, I'm surprised too... but to speak to #4, for example... it got endless praise, and I have several friends who played it who have said that it's so good they'd buy a PS3 just to play MGS4... ...and yet, I'm a mere 2-3 hours into #4, and it's just not grabbing me. It's not demanding me to play it like Uncharted and Valkyria Chronicles did. Don't know what it is. And to Christopher's point, that's sadly what happened to a lot of people with the Xenosaga series. #1 was okay, but then #2's combat system was so brokenly bad that barely anyone played #3, even though #3 is easily one of the very best RPGs of the PS2 era. That kinda makes my day, not gonna lie. Interviews been going alright? And did you ever get around to playing Chrono Cross and/or Xenosaga 3 (was that you, or am I thinking of someone else who said they were gonna play those awhile ago)?
Its hard to say because even though we don't want to look at "for its time", this game was king of the mountain then. As for MK, it is a little simple, but SF2 wasn't all that complicated either. Plus I don't know about you, but those fatalities were tough to get.
I loved San Andrea cause the world was soooo big and there were so many different things you could do that you couldnt in previous GTA games. Thats why GTA IV was a step back imo. I liked Vice City too, but my disc had a glitch in it and would not allow me to finish a mission that was in the middle of the story, so I can't really jusge it as much. I love COD 4 because the the online play is the best of any game ever made imo, plus the storyline is very good, but short in the single player mode I have the newest one on my wii as well. I just think the first one is the best because they really have not improved it a whole lot since then. It was simple and fun and kids still even play it in the dorms at my school. The one on the wii is a little too complicated if you ever played the first one.
My last two interviews were much better than my first. Unfortunately, as I mentioned in that thread, these were just to help the companies get more info on me. Right now, I'm in this weird stage where I'm waiting to hear back about specific jobs I applied to. I'd assume that I should at least get an on-site interview given the feedback I got in those interviews, but we'll see. Of course, I'm looking out for other positions as well. Hmm...not sure if I am who you are thinking about regarding CC and XS3. We did talk about them, but I finished CC about a year ago I think (loved it). Didn't play XS3, but I checked out pretty much all the cutscenes online so I could see how the story ended up. Enjoyed that too and I might end up playing XS3 eventually, although I have a lot of other games I'd probably prefer to check out first. I am playing through Valkyria Chronicles though. Can't remember if I posted about that in the thread you made. Got to around Chapter 13 or 14 IIRC, but then I got really busy with school/job hunting.
diablo 2 final fantasy 1 final fantasy 7 tecmo bowl warcraft 3 super mario super nintendo super mario 64 toe jam and earl zelda (on nes) mortal kombat street fighter 2 halo might have to add to this list later, but these are a combo of the best/and best memories i have.
Some of my favs: Ultima III Alternate Reality Civilization System Shock 1 & 2 Thief 1, 2 & 3 Deus Ex Riddick Bioshock Guild Wars
I will try and stick to my favorite 10 . . . Ocarina of Time A Link to the Past Diablo II (so. many. hours.) Chrono Cross (Yeah, I like it more than Chrono Trigger. Whatsup?) Super Mario Bros. 3 (First video game I ever owned. . .still a classic) Final Fantasy VII (Sometimes I convince myself I like one of the other ones more, but I can't not put FF7) Suikoden II Super Mario World Soul Calibur (first one...or second if you're going to split hairs. for DC) Super Smash Bros. Melee (I don't own a Wii...SSBM took the place of the original SSB, and SSBB may very well someday take the place of SSBM) I really think that the N64 / PS1 generation had the best games. Super Mario 64, OOT, Goldeneye; FF7, MGS...these all totally blew me away. I have to give an honorable mention to Pokemon : Blue / Red version. Nothing makes me as nostalgic as thinking about that game. If I had to pick one all time total favorite...Like a lot of other people have said, I would have to say Ocarina of Time. I remember sneaking into my parents bedroom and finding it like 2 weeks before Christmas, and I could barely wait.
Monster Math for IBM PCjr Tax Evaders and Keystone Capers; both for Atari 2600 Original Carmen Sandiego (because of the free almanac) Bionic Commando (because of the soundtrack)
My brother got waaaay into the gang wars aspect back in San Andreas back in the game. He conquered the whole city. Boy was he pissed when most of it got taken back as a plot twist... I have to admit it was a pretty cool mechanic, though. Good to hear you're doing well with the interviews. Liking Valkyria Chronicles? I really wish I could get selective amnesia so I could play that game again like it was the first time. How are you using your units, generally? Much of a tank user (I wasn't)? Scouts overpowered yet? 1. No kidding about the wasted hours on Diablo 2. I've spent that much time on very few games. The NBA 2K series in general and Quake 2... other than that I'm struggling to think of any... maybe Morrowind? 2. Hallelujah, I'm not the only one who liked Cross even better than Trigger... 3. Man, there is a LOT of love for Ocarina of time. I think I sold my 64 before it came out or something. I had too many good PS games to play, and my 64 wasn't doing much past Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, and Goldeneye. I clearly really have to play that game.
Drexlerfan : It really is a must play. It's got charm coming out of its ass for one thing. The controls are perfect. You can play it on either n64 or GC or Wii. I highly recommend it. Gamecubes should be coming pretty cheap now. . .and you oughta be able to find the OOT rerelease on GC. It also comes with Master Quest, which has reworked dungeons.
Well, I don't own a Wii, but as far as I know it is available over the virtual console. I think you would need a gamecube controller to play it, though. I don't think there is any way you can get a physical copy of the game on the Wii. . . On second thought, I guess you could buy the GC remake and play that on the Wii. You would still need a GC controller, though.
That's the thing with me, I don't need every skill(though I might have ended up that way anyway). I like the idea that it's possible to make it through the game in what? 9 hours or something? But I don't think I would ever do that. I like taking my time. Oh, another thing I liked about FF9 was that the characters were distinct. They had different roles, unlike the trend for recent FF games were a lot of them just end up being clones of each other. One of the things I liked about FF10 was making use of all the characters and having them adjusted so they had their roles to play(as long as you're not overleveled, then it doesn't matter). I loved the story of Xenogears. Made me play through the game twice. I even enjoyed the 2nd disc, which a lot of people gave square grief about. But you know what? But the battle system was just passable at best. And at times, the narration did get convoluted. I just don't know if I would go back and play the game again pretty much soley for the story, esp since there is almost no replay value.
Two best games I've ever played are Civilization 4 and Heroes of Might and Magic 3- both PC and both turn-based strategy. Awesome games that I can't recommend highly enough. Also, count me in on the SF2 wagon another rare game that doesn't get old.
Yeah, I'm liking it a lot. I have a few complaints (easy to fix for VC2 if that ever comes along), but I think it is one of the more innovative games I've played in a while (and I don't say that very much). Really does a great job of putting together the great things about Strategy RPGs and Shooters. Great level design too. Figured it would degrade into simply "Kill all enemies on map," but a lot of missions have some really interesting objectives (which are possible due to the game style). Regardless of its success (or lack there of ), I hope some other developers take notice and create more games like this. Started off using tanks a decent amount, but I quit doing it once my scouts got overpowered. Like you mentioned, I kind of wish this wasn't so easy to do. I actually played around a lot with the different units prior to that, which was a lot of fun (lots of different strategies between using them and/or tanks).
