Was anybody else at the game last night?

Did you catch the section on the big board with Battier and Brooks playing password?

When the password "laptop" came up.. Battier goes.. "you take it on the road with you... type on it.. play world of warcraft." and Brooks immediately answered computer/laptop.

Sooo... do you guys think that either one of them is a WoW player? I think so now...

**edit: just confirmed that he is... according to a 2006 sports illustrated article which shows the game as part of his collection which he plays on the road

No way Heavy Rain deserves to be the best game of all time the gameplay simply sucks. Now Marvel vs Capcom 3, that's game of the decade right there.

^Should be in a new thread "Anticipated games of 2009"

So i didnt go through the whole thread but about half of it, quite disappointed to see the lack of wow enthusiasts. Sure it takes away from the original focus, being a role player, and it leans to the gear grind, but if you talk about a game that revolutionized pvp and MMO games then WoW is the first on my list.

Looking forward all the NBA2k series was amazing and ive had a copy of every year since dreamcast.

Harvest Moon, anyone remember that game on 64? Very addicting. I remember as a kid I would pull multiple hour sessions growing my plants and brushing my horse (and of course the attempt at catching a girls eye in the town) Definitely took my outta my boring pre car world when I would be stuck in the house at night during summer.

Warcraft 3- Dota anyone? or how about a classic game of footies (before all the whacked out versions, the best one was the balanced one used in tournaments and random toons only imo)

Counterstrike - All consels (i was even into CS on the original xbox live for a while)

COD4 modern warfare- by far best online shooter i have EVER played in my life. Playability is much better then world at war imo.

Hitman (doesnt matter which one)- not really a best game of all time, but i dont remmebr the last game i was able to do so many different things in an attempt to kill somone (poison donuts, use a syringe, set a booby trap, use a wire, etc) so that def gets an honorable mention

Sim city (3000 i think)- build a city to your liking? wtf HELLL YEAH!!

Mass Effect - mind blowing. period. im so glad it wasnt a movie first. but it was def like a movie playing it. if it was a movie first im sure i would have never picked it up. cut scenes are up there with best of all time. great depth in characters.

assasins creed - one of the most beautiful games ever played which was the only reason it was worth a mention. Also great cut scenes and story line. Playability IMO limited and although i might have played it through once, my cousin delted my file so i never picked it back up. I was so sick of jumping over ppls backs stabbing them rinse and repeat x 100000.

guitar hero- i mean cmon who thought it would be that much fun until they picked it up. Def if i was drifiting from the rock genre this game brought back my appreciation with full force. Rock band was nice but GH World Tour > Rock Band 2 IMO.

marvel vs capcom- THE ****TT!!! Ryu was my main man (like ALOT of others im sure but who could blame us? Hadoken!) :D

im sure i could think of more games if i tried harder but theres a start

Everquest was the revolution, WoW was the evolution - an incredibly polished and slick evolution that surpassed the original for sure.

Stopped playing quite a while back but it's an impressive game.

I've got to put Psychonauts on my list. I thought it was the best game of the last generation. It was so funny and a lot of fun to play.

As far as other humorous games, I have to put Return to Zork on the list. It was the second game I owned on CD-ROM (after a fun for the time 7th Guest), and my entire family still quotes that game. "Want some rye? Course you do". "She only eats carrots!" Great stuff.

Super Mario World was incredible when it came out on the SNES. I spent way too much time beating that game again and again. That's still my favorite Super Mario game.

Metroid and Zelda were the 2 standouts from the NES era. Both completely blew me away when I was in high school. Every other game before then had been pretty shallow in scope, but these 2 were epic in nature. There were no FAQS back in those days, so it was trial and error and stumbling around to navigate the huge terrains. I remember the joy of stumbling on my own across the "Zelda" name easter egg to play the alternate dungeons. And the bit where Samus rips off her helmet had my jaw on the floor.

For the Atari days, I'd probably have to say Adventure, which I thought was one of the coolest things ever when I was in elementary school. I was always disappointed by other Atari games because of their poor quality in comparison.

I'd have to give honorable mentions to Arkanoid (which I played incessantly) and Street Fighter 2 (for giving me the coolest dorm room on my floor with endless tournaments). I don't think you can call either them universal best of all-time, but they'd be on my list.

So I just beat Zelda: Ocarina of Time last night, and gotta say, I came away extremely impressed. It took me about 6 weeks to beat it but it was well worth it.

For those who've never played it, and are wondering if they'd still be impressed by it 11 years later, what with all the new jaw dropping, advanced graphical games out now, I can only say that, yes, you would be. I played it after recently beating Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Killzone 2, and RE5, and Zelda no doubt can still hold its own. The characters are superb, the end battle with Gannon is epic, and the game itself is legendary. During the end credits, you feel a sense of accomplishment no trophies can match. A must play IMO. Probably my favorite game now along with RE4.

Uncharted 2 should rock! You have plenty to catch up on after all the fall releases. Good thing you finally beat Zelda after 2 months of trying... ;)

By far the biggest impact game ever. It revolutionized 3d gaming and was just way ahead of it's time. I'd say it still has the best level design in a game ever. Some of the best atmosphere created in a game as well. All in all, the sum of it's parts is what makes it so great. It is an EPIC game that got pretty much EVERYTHING right. There still hasn't been a game that's matched the excellence of Zelda:OoT even 10 years later.

    2. [IMG] / [IMG] / [IMG]

Can't choose between these three for number 2. Metroid Prime is possibly the best 2d to 3d transition I've ever seen in a game. It's absolutely amazing how they got the claustrophobic feel of the 2d games and made it a 3d first person view game. This game also has to have some of the best boss battles of any game I've played. Then you have Halo. I'd say this game has the best 30 second game play of any game created and it's repeated over and over again for the whole game. It's just downright fun. Especially co-op on legendary. The AI was definitely the best I've ever played against and the story was cool. The last level in this game was EPIC.

MGS3 is my favorite in the series (the whole series is amazing btw), and had some amazing game play matched with an outstanding story. The boss fight with "The End" is up there with any boss fight of Metroid Prime. What really makes this game though is the story and characters. Anyone that's played the game didn't want to pull the trigger at the end... I can't believe they made you do that! The way they wrap up the story really takes the game up a notch and makes it my number 3 favorite.

Mass Effect is another game with a phenomenal story! Deep characters that you shape throughout the game with an incredibly rich world full of history and different alien races that are all believable. The game really places you in a predicament at times with the choices it forces you to make. Those choices have an effect on you far after you've gone through the motions. The whole game builds up to a jaw-dropping climax where you find out about the antagonist and his true motives. The game is pure sci-fi drama that could easily be made into a Star Trek style movie that would actually surpass the recent Star Trek in terms of story and characters. Amazing game, and it ties with MGS3 for my 3rd favorite game of all time!

So, I just beat Uncharted 2 yesterday, and never has there been a game more cinematic than Uncharted 2. It literally closes the line between movies and games. It is miles ahead of every other game in this aspect. Also, graphics wise there is no opinion any more. This game's graphics rule all console games period, and that's a fact! Of course none of this would mean much if the gameplay wasn't there to back it up. The gunplay and platforming are top notch, and the set pieces in this game... Well, let's just say, once again, there is no rival... The game keeps you on your toes through the whole 12-15 hrs and somehow manages to keep things fresh and diverse the whole way! Everything from the story, characters, animation, etc... screams polish polish polish! Only bad thing about this game is that it ends. It's the 2nd best action game I've ever played (only behind Halo 1), and it's tied with Mass Effect as the best game of this generation for me. Every PS3 owner... BUY THIS GAME! Every non-PS3 owner... Buy a PS3 and BUY THIS GAME!

Honorable mentions: Mario 3/64/Galaxy. Bioshock. Resident Evil 4. Super Metroid.

My favorite two games of all time were Rainbow six 3 and Rainbow 6 black arrow. I wasted so many hours on those two games. It had the best online play for xbox at that time. The vegas series ruined it and i'm very disappointed in Ubisoft for completely screwing up the rainbow franchise.

Halo's-nothing really to say here except that I wish you could download all the old maps to halo 3

Call of duty 4 modern warfare- I hate this game and I love it at the same time. It just seems like this game is to easy and that anybody can get really good at it in a couple of days

Favorite Computer games- Starcraft/Rollercoaster tycoon-Can't wait for starcraft II, just hope it runs on a mac haha
