I tried playing the original Homeworld, but couldn't get into it. I didn't bother trying the 2nd one.
Counter Strike StarCraft I personally love Valkyria Chronicles as well, but it has its flaws and due to my own limited exposure to Strategy RPG games, I'll refrain from calling it GOAT
Anyone ever play Transport Tycoon/Transport Tycoon Deluxe? That was another game that took up a lot of my hours back in the day...
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Runescape. I guess WoW has pretty much taken it over, but I've wasted hundreds of hours on that game. Some others, in no particular order: Chrono Trigger FF3 FF1 FF2 LoZ - Link to the Past Guardian Heroes Mario Kart Tecmo Bowl Doom 2 Warcraft 2 NBA Jam Tournament Edition Castlevania - Symphony of Night (probably the wrong name, I'm too lazy to go look, It's the PS1 game with Alucard) Galaga Gauntlet Legends (arcade, it actually let you save your character!) Earthbound Secret of Mana I'm sure I left a few out. I really enjoyed some of the Marios, but I don't know if I could put one on my all time favorites. Pugs
People are always mentioning that one, and for whatever reason I never got around to buying it. I really should, by the sounds...
1. Mario 2. Sonic 3. Street Fighter 4. Mortal Kombat 5. Pac Man 6. Madden 7. GTA 8. Killer Instinct 9. Tekken 10. Halo
Civ II - Test of Time is awesome. The amazing thing is that the game is 10 years old and it still runs on Windows Vista! Of course, it asked to install DirectX 6.0.
Yeah, I mentioned Ultima III, which was the first one I played. That game changed my life. Ultima IV didn't have the same magic for me and so I moved on.
Oh and of course, can't forget the River Street Ransom, Super Dodgeball and all the games that featured those characters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunio-kun_(series)
God how I loved playing these games as a little kid. I still play the early FF, Zelda, & Gauntlet from time to time.
you guys remember (maybe first time playing a cpu game as a kid) not knowing wtf ega and vga was or the sounds cards (roland...8bit...sound blaster...so much) and just going back n forth to see what works the best, lol
1. By far the biggest impact game ever. It revolutionized 3d gaming and was just way ahead of it's time. I'd say it still has the best level design in a game ever. Some of the best atmosphere created in a game as well. All in all, the sum of it's parts is what makes it so great. It is an EPIC game that got pretty much EVERYTHING right. There still hasn't been a game that's matched the excellence of Zelda:OoT even 10 years later. 2. / Can't choose between these two for number 2. Metroid Prime is possibly the best 2d to 3d transition I've ever seen in a game. It's absolutely amazing how they got the claustrophobic feel of the 2d games and made it a 3d first person view game. This game also has to have some of the best boss battles of any game I've played. Then you have Halo. I'd say this game has the best 30 second game play of any game created and it's repeated over and over again for the whole game. It's just downright fun. Especially co-op on legendary. The AI was definitely the best I've ever played against and the story was cool. The last level in this game was EPIC. 3. MGS3 is my favorite in the series (the whole series is amazing btw), and had some amazing game play matched with an outstanding story. The boss fight with "The End" is up there with any boss fight of Metroid Prime. What really makes this game though is the story and characters. Anyone that's played the game didn't want to pull the trigger at the end... I can't believe they made you do that! The way they wrap up the story really takes the game up a notch and makes it my number 3 favorite. Honorable mentions: Mario 3/64/Galaxy. Bioshock. Resident Evil 4. Super Metroid.
The more people who say OoT is the greatest ever, the more I can't wait for my Gamecube copy I ordered to get here. I also have the Wii Metroid Prime... what is that, #3 or something? That's definitely another one I gotta try out. I mostly jumped off the Nintendo bandwagon after Goldeneye/Mario 64/Pilotwings 64... I just wasn't seeing a big quantity of hits on the 64, so I figured at the time I may as well sell it to dedicate more of my time to my enormous library of PS1 games. Now I wish I'd waited and played Perfect Dark and OoT.
They're rereleasing Prime 1 and 2 for the Wii with the Prime 3 controls, along with the Pikmin games.
You can play OoT on the gamecube? One of the best things about the game was its soundtrack... to this day it illicits some pretty strong emotions. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cDDdaD8Kwpk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cDDdaD8Kwpk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> one thing i really want to do is get wind waker and play it on my wii using my classic controller... but i'd need to go get a gamecube memory card
