i think there was a little method to yao's madness in this statement:
yao, BEFORE the game, praises Shaq here by insinuating that, OF COURSE, he won't do something as weak as 'flopping'.
Now, EVERYONE will be watching...including Shaq, who has a lotta pride and wants to live up to Yao's 'praise'.

imo, at least...i think yao was very sharp on that one. ;)

yeah there is a chance he doesn't get fined.

if he doesn't, i think yao should pick a suitable timing next time the same crap happens, and call for a press conference. even better if the team is behind him. i know it will be unprecedented, but we need to try to overcome this issue once and for all.

The refs suck... they need to understand that Yao is 300+ and because he's not being pushed around like other players doesn't mean that they aren't fouling him.

I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of Yao's turnovers and fouls are offensive fouls.

Yao should personally insult Memo, and all the guys who flop against him.

MEN don't like their integrity questioned.

    Yao should've said.

"That's the only way B******* can guard me is flop like a women. I'm glad I get to play against Shaq, he's a man whose not going to flop."

im telling you, next time it happens, he needs to FORCE the refs to eject him. Hes built the stage with these remarks...he'll get some run tomorrow on certain sports outlets for this.

next time it happens, get yourself double-T'd.

THEN, people will start talking...and no ref will want to be 'that guy'...or in violet palmer's case, 'that girl'...

Really tho it looks like they rake his arm on 75% of those so called strips.

Okur seems super cocky when he defends Yao,I mean he has this arrogant smerk on his face like he knows he can get away with murder.

Dunno who said it but they have it 100% correct

There are only 2 things that stop Yao

    1.) The refs
    2.) The flop

I feel terrible for the guy. I wish, just wish one day he would go APESHI* and just get ejected. Get the league's attention! Get on ESPN. Just make the highlights and go crazy. The team will support you.

I am sick and tired of seeing this. It sucks. It really does.

it's kinda a gamble, but maybe it's worth it. joel crawford could eject duncan for laughing on the bench, but after all it was him who had to apologize in order to come back to the court.

and since our race is tight, yao needs to pick his timing, like when we're up 15 in the 4th with 3 minutes left.

I'm telling you guys, Every night guys are getting away with flops. Yao needs to call these guys out.

Shaq did it plenty. Yao needs to tell guys that they are not good enough defensively to stop him, so they rely on the refs.

    Yao shoulda just said.

"That ***** Memo is a flopper. So that's the only way he has a shot to stop me is flop."

Yeah it might not work, but he might try to prove Yao wrong. Yao doesn't need to make friends with these guys. Whenever someone flops against Shaq, Shaq sometimes looks like he wants to punch them in the face.

I know it's not in Yao, I know Artest would say it before Yao but man...something has to be done about this.

Its interesting...the European big-men are the ones who seems to have that attitude regarding Yao. Have you noticed that? i wonder if its some detail about the European style of play versus Yao's style...or if it's something deeper?

Euro classicism...and their view towards Asians, especially eastern European cultures?

im sure im just reading too much into nothing...but it's weird. you dont see Howard or Bosch pulling the type of crap that Gasol, or the guy from Cleveland, or Okur, etc. pull.

Yea, the one time we want him to be more vocal could cost him which I hope it doesn't. NBA does want flopping but being that Utah games are typically sellouts that probably won't change how it's called which is why its hardly enforced. During the summer, NBA made a big deal for we're fining floppers, who's actually been fined? No one!!! Not one jazz player. C'mon.

NBA should consider fines after the game even if the refs are dumb enough to fall for it during the game. Fine both the flopper and the ref which makes the flopper less likely to flop and the ref for blowing a call that could impact a game's result: Yao's 6th. Doubt it will ever happen but hate knowing how flopping gets rewarded via turnovers, lose of possession, or unnecessary fouls. Ridiculous.

    Go Rockets!!!

He should have been complaining about this years ago, but better late than never.

It will be interesting to see how Stern handles this? When Yao said the word "unfair" it made me laugh. It wasnt a laugh because I thought it was funny. It just made me happy, I mean how many people were just waiting for him to last out. I have a feeling he will destroy Utah next game, but then again I predicted Wafer to be huge tonight.

I'm starting to scream racism and politics here.

But I guess it would be bad for the NBA (and Democracy) if a Chinese athlete from communist China comes to your most professional (basketball) league and win MVPs/Finals MVPs.

Yao is a victim. He had so much potential when he joined the league. But I still wonder how he averaged 26 ppg a couple seasons ago...

You know what. It might just work if Yao plays the race card. Stern would be very afraid if the NBA is suspected to be biased against the Chinese.

I am not saying that it's right. But it might work. ;)
