nah you want harden to be lebron on d. And even if he does pay elite defense, he'll still get robbed of mvp( the media hates him). Why should Harden burn himself out on both ends of the court playing 38 mins/gm, when he's not even sure he will be rewarded by voters at the end of the season

Damn James really must be the GOAT.

Gives 0 effort on defense and is basically middle of the pack in the league at defense who is up there in steals and among the leaders of wing players in blocks. Doesn't even try. Truly amazing how much production he can squeeze out of 0%.

If only he tried even like 20% they might have to change the rules of basketball.

If you think about it...James Harden is actually the most naturally gifted basketball player in history. Probably most naturally gifted athlete in general.

Spends all his time at strip clubs and getting fat, yet still goes for 29/8/7. We are truly witnessing something special with that man. Just think if he worked on his game at all!

His strip club game is the most underrated of all time in NBA history.

This is being overstated. Harden typically guards his position... the opposing SG... while the best wing defender on the other team typically guards him. Also his sub par off ball defense doesn't come close to equaling or canceling out his juggernaut level of play on offense. His off ball defense wasn't anywhere close to a primary hindrance to this teams success just as it wasn't in the seasons prior to the last one.

I said Harden is the sole legit ball handler, playmaker, and shot creator on his team.... And he has to create the majority of his and his teammates points.

No player in the league had that situation this past year.... No one had that offensive load.

You're also missing the point... It's damn near impossible to do that and your team be successful or win with any measure of consistency.

The majority of the dudes you just named never that role or aren't good defenders either except prime Kobe and his defense was sub-par in those years he was taking 20+ FGA as well... At least 3 are worse defensively than Harden and inferior offensive players as well... Iverson, Melo, and Kyrie.... Kyrie has never carried a load close to that and Iverson is the closest and we saw how often he struggled.

Melo never ever fit that role... Westbrook definitely doesn't fit that role nor Kobe.

If the defender is out of position or reaching yes he does that and does it well.... And he's great at finishing through it. You'd have a point if he wasn't an elite finisher and one of the best in the league at finishing AND1s... Like I said he's always in the top five and he's also led the league in AND1s before... What he does while driving isn't the rip through move... It's clear you don't know what the rip through is.

Except that wasn't cherrypicking... What he said was comparable.

What you said? Flat out wasn't... Shabazz LOL

I just want to voice my concern with the increasing volume of implicit PBev-bashing in this thread. If Harden is the "sole legit ball handler" etc, what does that make Beverley? I'm offended.

    :p

    Funny thing about that....

His skills challenge performance supports my point.
He won with his shooting.... Not balls handling or passing.

Good video. I cringed a little at his reasoning for James' poor defense. Being tired isnt a good excuse for being bad on that side of the ball, James needs to get in better shape and become a net positive on defense.

James Harden played 82 games for Rockets season after season.

Perhaps you need to watch some TMAC or Wade injury videos.

    in other words . . .

well, given that this is partly a Dwight-bashing thread:

    1. Harden did not have a "complete lack of defense". Saying that is the pinnacle of ignorance or in the case of someone who is supposed to be a Rockets fan, complete idiocy. Harden was about the middle of the pack defensively and quite a good post defender and when needed a solid on the ball defender. James's trouble is off the ball where he ball watches too much and subsequently, loses his own mark.

    2. Harden was not the one that froze out Dwight. Dwight froze himself out by demanding to do something that he was atrocious at and then pouting like a little kid by half-assing it for the rest of the season and you are going to try to pin that on Harden? Get the hell out of here with that stupid crap. You know what should have been Dwight's motivation? Beyond WINNING, I can think of 22 million reasons he should be going balls off walls on defense, rebounds, and PnR. Dude gets paid to do a job. ****ing do the job! BTW, it wasn't just Harden. It was the FO and the coach and any fan of the team that has even half a brain.

    3. James may have slipped on D, but not nearly as bad as Dwight did and that was the only thing Dwight was even still good at. In fact, the entire team slipped on D... every single player, but I guess that doesn't fit in your "Bash Harden's D" agenda now does it? D, unlike O where you have ISO systems, will always be a team effort. Every team tries to hide their star player on D to allow him to save his energy on O or in general. There are maybe 2-3 true 2 way players in this league and only one of them is a top 5 caliber player. You know why? Because individual offensive ability will ALWAYS trump individual defensive ability.

    4. Does Harden need to improve on D? Yes he does and we all know he is capable of it. By adding Anderson we finally have a 2nd scorer behind him. Eric Gordon is still a deadeye shooter. It is logical to assume that his D should be up this season.

Dwight rocking the thigh high shorts. Going by the trend, dude's gonna be balling in speedos one of these days.
