I think David Robinson was better than Dirk, too.

You may be right but it is apples to oranges again. Different positions.

95 was the most exciting nba playoffs . jordan was back , shaq and penny, and the rockets crazy run

i think the ratings that year were off the charts considering it was on NBC.

True I guess. Both had different requirements on their respective teams, different skill sets.

Both being big men though, it's a fair comparison to make, no? We're not talking about comparing a PG to a C/PF for example. Both guys are 6'10/240lbs plus.

I feel like the constant Dirk vs. Dream comparisons disrespect and tarnish Dream's legacy.

Dirk is a first ballot future HOFer but he spent 2\3 of his career with a (deserved) reputation of being soft and not a big stage player. Dream never had that problem. Of course, the stats are all in Dream's favor too but I feel like Dirk's longevity and a choke job by Lebron elevated Dirk to a place he really doesn't deserve be.

Apples keep the doctor away. Oranges give you acid reflux.

    Therefore, apples are better.

    And Hakeem is an apple.

I thought this was going to be a troll thread until I watched the video. Yep, no contest. Dream is head and shoulders better that Dirk. It is not even close really.

You can't take away what Dirk has accomplished.
    The numbers don't lie.

But if you were building a team to go to war with and could pick
either Hakeem or Dirk to anchor your team, which do you think most
Non-Rocket or Non-Mavs fans would pick?

A monster rim protector to give you defense and points?
Or a sweet shooting 7 ft power forward that mostly gives you points as well?

The best money spent would be for defense + offense = Hakeem

You could put Hakeem on Dirk and shut Dirk down.
No way Dirk could do the same. Just ask David Robinson

Russians r not really white but even so the black guy is better. Its not even close. In my opinion the best center of all time against barely, maybe number ten power forward.

Debatable. But I give Dirk the edge due to the fact that he led his team to a title while Robinson played second fiddle for his rings.

You can go that route. Many would.

Personally I don't think rings make the argument. Basketball is a team sport.

D-Rob and the Spurs in '95 were a great team that ran into a better player and team in Houston. Dirk lost a first round series to an 8th seed coming off an MVP season.

Coaching, match ups, rosters. It all factors in.

D-Rob was an elite athlete who excelled on both ends of the floor. That whooping at the hands of Hakeem just made him seem worse than he actually was, but it showed the level Hakeem was on at that time.

I can't even fathom what Hakeem would have done to Dirk if he were in D-Rob's place.

Karl and Charles were better than Dirk, so was Garnett

    Hakeem ~ Duncan > Dirk

The whole no ring thing is ridiculous, the 90's and early 00's had looming shadows the like havent been seen since.

Dirk is a great player and future HOF'er but he's nowhere close to Hakeem. Dream is a top 10 player OF ALL TIME.

Another aspect of Dirk's game he lifted from Bill Laimbeer.... The Flop Defense. It was a really good part of Dirk's game where he would take over the game by adding to team fouls and getting people in foul trouble. Soooo, no body would really guard him for the rest of the game.

He did it on both ends of the court. If you put in that argument then they were pretty close... LOL
