I think Trevor improved his game with the addition of K-Mart. Now he doesn't have to be pressured into being one of the main cogs of the offense. And now with Yao coming into the mix, Trevor will easily get spot up for 3s. Hopefully he makes them.
It sucks that we hear harsh words from the "fans" on a player of their own working on his game in the summer but the most hated player is Aaron Brooks.
See, my logic is that when we added Martin, he was a 38.1% 3P shooter from there on out. He still had to occasionally create his shot, however. With Yao, he'll get more spot-up opportunities and have to create his shot even less; he'll literally be the fifth option in the starting line-up and like Battier before him, most of his opportunities will be spot-up. Thus, that 38.1% number should only improve and I don't think 40% is much of a stretch at all.
Back in the day, Hakeem would always used to just show up at training camp with a whole bunch of new skills. Conversely, T-Mac used to always produce off-season specials detailing how much work he was doing, and when he showed up in the Fall he was equal to or less than the player that left the previous Spring. Consequently, people making a production for the cameras of how hard they are working leaves me a bit wary.
I see some of us still can't get over he who shall not be named........ But back to the actual topic of the thread....nice to see Trevor working. Didn't see any of the additional muscle mass the trainer was talking about though Hopefully we'll see improvements at the beginning of the season
times have changed though in general back in the day people would read about signings the next morning in the newspaper or on the way home on the radio now there are 1-hour long specials. t-mac is a bit of an extreme in terms of trying to market his image trevor just falls somewhere in between sounds like it was probably something more put on by his agent than anything else to keep trevor's name out there after his former team and the guy who he was "traded for" helped them win game 7
He's getting a lot of shots up, but I still think they need to correct his form first and foremost. It needs a tweak cause something looks weird about it, and his low % last year should be a testament of that.
AB is hated but, someone fans think he is going to be a HOF, so there is a balance I hardly see a guy praising Ariza I like this guy, he lacks basic fundamentals, and in that video I saw him passing buy his defender, and then trying no to lose the body control, and blow be the 2nd guy and finish near the rim In last year what you saw, was a guy that easily exploded buy his defender, but when close to the basket, he consistently lost body control, and brick layups, stupid TO trying to do passes, when there wasn´t anyone near him That is why I like the video, for some of you, that is nothing, but for me, as a fan, I know that this guy is working in some basic things, he should had right now, but because he was never ask to do it, he lacks, and that is trying to improve overall. Will he be better??? Only time will tell, but I am glad he is not just shooting the ball, just because of Yao is out there, what people don´t understand is if, play live and die by the 3, you will have problems With Yao on the court, after double teams, the ball will rotate to the open guy on the corner, and if the 3 shot is off, you have to have the ability, to pump fake, and attack the basket, or shoot the mid-jumper, basic things that guys like Battier or Posey, for example, lack, and that is why, Ariza, for me, can be a rich man Battier, if he improves this part of his game, and the lock-down defense PeAcE
his shot is fine...it looks weird because he has long arms, so to get full wrist extension and still shoot it at the optimal angle he can't lift his upper arm that high. He'll never be close to or a sharpshooter and that's the only type of perimeter player than can survive a major increase in shot attempts. Once his role goes back to where it should be his efficiency will increase. as for is workout....its nice to know he's putting work in, but if his primary workout is 1 on 1 and 2 on 1 work, he should get better defenders. They're not really challenging him and giving him too much space. They're also playing matador defense that the rim. Trevor needs practice scoring at the rim, not dribbling by a defender 5 feet from the rim and then getting a wide open layup. Let's hope that just wasnt covered in the clip.
why are people hating on this guy? Ariza proved that he can adjust last year... he's grown and will have no problem playing a role when Yao is back and Martin is the bottom-clock scoring option. Ariza can hit an open three and dunk really well. In fact, he might be the best on the team at slamming it down, pending how Chase pans out. Also, he's come out of his shell on that team somewhat and melded. All in all he is like a less efficient battier who can dunk.
My only counter to that is he's not going to get more open looks than he did with Lakers in 08-09, and he only shot 31.9 % that year (from 3). But we're on the same page as we both expect him to perform better. Wish him best of luck. Now Brooks on the other hand, shot almost 40 % last year (3s) while creating his own shot, and his #s after Martin were just sick. I can't even imagine his %s with Yao + Marthn
Just check the stats: Pre-All Star Break(49 games): 38mpg 37.8%fg(15.2attempts) 30%3pt 5.6rpg 3.6apg 15.5ppg Post-All Star Break(23 games): 33mpg 44.1%fg(11.1attempts) 41%3pt 5.6rpg 4.4apg 13.6ppg
I think we will see Trevor's shooting improve when he can catch and shoot in rythym more rather than driving and pulling up.
