its just how he feels... others may see it similarly and others would disagree.

But putting it above the championship years? I would have to disagree.

I guess its how you take the comment. Im thinking he meant that now with Yao Ming and Tracy Mcgrady, this is their finest hour. Meaning the finest hour of the new Mac-Ming era. He probably should have said "And now, with the Yao and Tracy era, its their finest hour."

whether 'now' or 'and now' i'd interpret that as the finest hour from Moses Malone on ... ie, from he started covering the Rockets.

not really a biggie, emotion clouds reason sometimes and the guy is a huge homer. i'm pretty damn proud of them too! :D

I heard it and it kind of make me go huh but then again considering Worrell has seen every game for countless years I'm willing to give him a bit of lee way.

Think he just got caught up in the moment, nothing wrong with a fan doing that.

Bill was saying his opinion, if you dont think its the Rockets finest hour, then dont agree, just dont bash a guy for accidently overjoicing the ROckets current success. Just because he said "finest hour" on television doesnt mean he was ignoring the othe rgreat past years

Obviously Bill Worrell was exagerating but all comentators do, listen to a game winner in the first week of the season and a game winner in the finals, the commentators are just as excited.

I think Bill was refering to how it made him feel and how unexpected the streak is. I think this is the most surprising, unexpected, and team accomplishment the rockets have ever had. They don't have one of the best centers of all time, and the streak is only matched by champions. With that said...

Yes, only the stickiest of the ickiest for old Bill Worrell.

It is their finest hour in face of adversity.

Yea, winning the championship as a 6th seed is great and all but they were champions the year before. You could even say they underperformed in the regular season.

I hate to disagree with Clutch. What he basically said was: I have never been prouder than right now about the Houston Rockets. The finest hour comment was related to his pride toward the team

To be fair, championships are won every year, but the last time someone won 20 games in a row was 37 years ago. The recent bulls\lakers\celtic\spurs dynasties couldn't do what we accomplished.

I think he meant it because you dont expect greatness from this 'rag-tag' bunch of guys. A great team with great players doing wonderful things is awesome but somewhat expected.

But a team with luther head, chuck hayes, mike harris, mutombo, battier, novak, and landry winning 20 games in a row. Wow. I love these guys but on any other good team, they would be D-league.

These guys are so blue-collar, unassuming, and have great chemistry. How can you not love these guys and their effort. I can understand Bill's statement definitly, because its like seeing your 'ungifted' child becoming successful.

Of course, kiss of death and hakeems destroyal of robinson bring tears too.

Just in case yall havent seen it in a while and need some nostalgic tears.
    Was it all a dream?

I've been a Rockets fan since their first championship in 94, and I can honestly say that I am more proud of the group of guys who make up the current Rockets roster than any other sports team ever. More than the back to backs; more than the Astros getting to the world series after 40 some odd years; etc. No one expected them to win 12 straight with Yao. When Yao went down, everyone predicted lottery. What have they done since then? Won 8 more in a row, to make it 20 straight, and rise to the top of the best division in basketball. All with the likes of Rafer Alston, a highly criticized streetball legend who bounced around the league for several years before finding a home in Houston; McGrady, who has had to deal with more hate and criticism from the media and others than any other player in recent memory; Shane Battier, the most blue collar guy in the league, who does nothing extraordinarily well except being the ultimate teammate; Luis Scola, a 27 year old rookie; Mutombo, a 41 (at least) year old still blocking shots with the best of them; Carl Landry, another rookie, who without hustle and determination, would probably still be in the D-League; Bobby Jackson, another old vet whose best days are behind him; Chuck Hayes, another guy who, based on talent alone, belongs in the D-League. As a fan, how can you not be proud of these guys? This team has more fight, hustle, determination, will, and chemistry than any other sports team I have ever seen.

I'm gonna have to agree with Bill on this one.

I think scrutinizing Bill's comment in this way is splitting hairs. I don't think he would make such a statement under more rational circumstances but he was likly just caught up and/or interjecting enthusiasm for the fan base.

Do I agree with his statement? No. But I respect Bill for the most part and hearing it made me feel even more hyped about this team... and that's part of Bill's job.

I'm loving this. Perhaps I'll scrutinize Bill more readily after the streak ends.

Considering how this team has responded to Yao's injury, they are playing inspirational. In any situation, would a team or any group of people perform, when their best player or leader goes down for good? Either they never recover, or it takes them awhile to get used to again. These Rockets haven't missed a beat. They've won 8 in a row without Yao, and the intensity has picked up even more. Plus, as bad as we started the year out, its amazing that we are #2 in the West right now.

New coach, revamped roster, a 41 year old center playing like he's in his prime almost. A fallen superstar, and a forgotten superstar, who's out to show people that, he hasn't lost a step from a few years ago, and that he can lead a team to greatness.

I think the 95 title was just as remarkable and surpising, but they had the best center in the league, had a battle tested title run the year before, and picked up a title-hungry superstar as well. Somebody would've picked the Rockets to make some noise in the Playoffs atleast. NOBODY thought this team, without Yao could win 20 straight. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, Moses, Shaq, or even the Great Bill Russell even completed this feat of 20 straight wins.

    "Houston, TX...Where amazing happens."

A few typos in my original post.

Somebody would've picked the Rockets to make some noise in the Playoffs at the very least. NOBODY thought this team, without Yao could win 20 straight. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, Moses, Shaq, or even the Great Bill Russell could not even complete this feat of 20 straight wins. That is unbelievable that Tmac could lead us to streak of 20 straight that the greatest of players could not do. Now what he needs is a title to add to this streak to possibly complete his NBA resume.

    "Houston, TX...Where Amazing Happens."

They need to make that commercial soon

Yeh, at first I thought it was a ridiculous statement... but, as others have pointed out, somebody wins a championship every year, a few even multiple back to back times, but how many teams have ever won 20 games in a row! It's more elite company than a ring. That said, if you asked me at any point if I'd rather have the streak or the ring.... i'd have to say the ring. I imagine that can be debated for years to come... guess The Rox will just have to sidestep the question - by adding a championship to the streak! :D
