I don't think the video shows where Yao got hurt. Bullard in that very video said he noticed something a couple of possessions before. Tracy never warms up during half-time. He comes out of the tunnel and goes straight to the bench. Maybe it's time he starts.

Oh man. "Shut it Down". Worst three words I've heard today.

Please let the MRI show no damage.

Yao and TMAC might as well buy an MRI center together.

I'm sure the Rocket doctors are on top of things. They're the best in the business. If they say there's no need for concern, it's no big deal.

    ... yeah, right.

I hope Tmac is ok, let's just hope this is him being Tmac and more worried than anything.

Sometimes knees buckle, and it scares you but it is not really damaging.

    Durv,

They updated the article, at first it said he was fine.

Ron rolled his right ankle by stepping on the defender's foot, not by crashing into the cameraman. Ron can be out 1-2 weeks or he may be okay.

But was that drive even neccessary? 30 secs, 10+ pts lead.

Like Matt said, Yao was hurted before the hook shot. I watched 2nd half, the announcers if FSN OKC (??) stated that Yao looked unwell way before the hook shot.

[Edit] I have no chance to review the game at this point of time, but I remember there's a play where Yao almost gave up to proceed to the offensive end (2 or 3 possessions before the hook shot). He probably stepped on someone's foot on a defensive play and sprained the ankle.

He didn't step on anything or anyone he just rolled it a bit as he was stopping, but not too bad...

It looked like a minor sprain...but you never know.

On Chinese website, both Yao and Ron claimed they are OK. They will show up next game. However Tmac said his knee hurt like hell. "feels like before surgery."

Let me have a look again.....and I will edit this post.

    (edit)

Nope, he just rolled it, he did not step on anyone's foot, I have it frozen on my DVR looking at it right now......there is a guys foot close to his after he rolls it but the roll happened before the defender even enters the frame.

According to Chinese media, both Yao and Artest are fine. Tmac is a different story.

they've changed that article quickly. so now mcgrady is the one who most likely will shut it down? geez. just mcgrady being mcgrady, i guess. jvg used to say that different human bodies react differently to injuries.

if yao turned his ankle (i didn't notice anything on tv), at least it's better than an injury directly to the foot. that would've been scary.

ron will be fine eventually. he's the one i am least worried about. he misses a few games, fine. only one game? even better. the guy is a stud.

Good point rocketsregle (and freemaniam)... I heard him say that but just had in my head he was referring to this play when he first saw it. I misunderstood. In watching again, Bullard said he saw "when he first reached down and felt it a little bit, it was about 3 or 4 possessions before he made that jumphook". Didn't say he saw the moment where he got hurt though and unless I missed it, I didn't see video of the exact play (if there was an exact play or if it just started hurting).

McGrady being McGrady. He will be the one who most likely miss most games among the three, at least for this injury.

I hope yao is fine. Now with big men with foot probs, it may not be tied to a specific event, rather just cumulative effects of 7'6" 315 pounds running, jumping on the hardwood. I saw the hornets game again and there was a point in which Yao stepped on A. Brooks foot. I watched it over and over and it was slow and did not twist his ankle but I wonder if that could have injured a bone in his foot?

tmac--probably just has soreness and needs to rest.

    ron--probably needs 1 game and ice/rest.

Battier, are you ready to go?

That depth could be tested in the coming days while the Rockets assess the damage sustained during Monday night’s game. Of the three, Tracy McGrady’s injury appears to be the most troublesome. The seven-time All-Star tweaked his surgically-repaired left knee in the opening minute of the third quarter and will undergo an MRI Tuesday to examine the joint.

“My knee just gave out on me,” said McGrady after the game. “The coaches saw me limping and so they wouldn’t let me go back out there. It’s very frustrating. It felt like I never had surgery on it. I am going to get an MRI on it and hope that there won’t be any structural damage. It’s very frustrating. I want to play. To me personally, this is a bad start.”

The news seems far more encouraging for Yao and Artest. Yao (19 points, 12 rebounds) left the game late in the fourth quarter after draining his final shot. He grimaced on his way to the bench but Rockets officials say he is fine. As for Artest, he took a spill in the final minute and sprained his ankle in the process. But the rugged forward says expects to be good as new in a few days.

    TMAC "shutting it down"...

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6117712.html

"My knee gave out on me," McGrady said. "They told me if I was to go back in, and they saw me limping they were going to take me back out. I was like, "Well, that’s what you’re pretty much going to see.’ My knee is feeling right. I hate to do this, but I’m going to get an MRI tomorrow and until, further notice, I’m going to have to shut it down."

What a surprise. Get well soon McFragile.
