Sure Shot Steve might work but it's hard to say. and it's a bit too much like Big Shot Bob - which Horry didn't earn until he was with the Spurs. but i think nicknames come about later on after a player proves themselves at something. I mean, sure Le Bron was crowned Kings fairly on....but even Jordon wasn't Air his rookie season. And flash for wade hardly sticks. i mean, guys who just hit the three ball really well don't get nick names....
I totally agree. I like the nickname but this isn't an attempt to make it stick so much as it was just a perfectly fitting song for a video. If it sticks, that's fine too, but I seriously doubt it will happen. I'm sure Bill Worrell probably already has something in mind anyway, or maybe Novak's teammates. I could easily see Tracy slipping a nickname into a quote for a Chronicle article or something like that. The name will come with time.
Yeah, it might be something as non-sequitar as whole-grain because that's what he grew up eating for breakfast. Something dumb like that - so many nicknames are personal and not anything to do with basketball...but they are more about the players personality then anything else...

Wow, cool video. Good song/nickname to incorporate as well! What I like most about the preseason highlights is that when Novak shoots the ball, more often than not you can see a Rockets player around the paint immediately run back on defense, knowing with full confidence that there will be no need to rebound his shot.
