Would someone give Kenny Smith a head coaching job so he can go get his butt handed to him night after night by real NBA coaches who actually know the game? I'm so sick of this guy downplaying Adelman and the Rockets.

"I could get a bunch of college guys to play really, really play hard."

    Great insight, Kenny.

    I call Camby "Empty Stats".
Camby hes gets a lot of defensive statistics but his presence make almost no difference on defense more so now he is aging.
Battier is the opposite, he give u and instance presence defensibly but the scoreboard will not show it.

Why do the Rockets need an old soft player who won't be part of the future and will only take minutes from our future bigs.

DPOY for Camby was the worst award in NBA history.

The portion of the $22~ million should only matter to the insurance company and the Rockets. I didn't see them doing anything like this when it involved the poor Grizzlies and the wealthy Blazers. A few articles a die hard NBA fan would notice, but that's it. It wasn't until the Blazers owner got pissed off until everyone paid attention to it.

Another note, every team in the NBA plays hard. Some teams play hard and suck even with good players. It's about having the right combination of players who fit together, good management, and heart. All this talk about the Rockets play hard, only makes the players ease up during the games. They want another NBA contract. When everyone tells them they suck, and the only reason they win is because they play like it's the play-offs year round, they soften up.

Everyone except Houston hates Houston sports.

I agree with your points. But, Yao Ming can not be a go to scorer with the postup, when our opposing teams front him. That is where we will need T-Mac or a similar player.

Not very true but who said Yao will be able to be that go to guy.

People have high expectation. But hell, Yao had two surgeries in a row and those were one of the worst surgeries you can have on your foot. Just like McGrady had the microfracture.

People think that Yao just will be back and play at his normal 20/10 level with no setbacks. But who said that? He as well may not be able to play even 25 minutes a game.

big men has never gotten better or sustain their level of play after multiple injuries. there's no precedence. Z is the one who had the same type of surgery and he's only still effective b/c he's playing with lebron james, who takes all the pressure off of Z.

when yao returns next year to the same team, he'll still be our best player skill-wise. if we depend on him as much as we have, he's going to break down again.

Let's face it. The chances of Yao Ming comming back at the high level again are VERY low.

I don't know why people expect us to contend next year. Young guys will be better but Yao, you just never know. Even with Yao healthly I don't see us being a top 5 team in the West.

Agreed! Also T-Mac will have to fit into the up-tempo team concept. That's going to require some extra time to get his wind back after he's healthy again. For this reason, I don't expect him back before say Christmas. I think he can fit into the present team, but the team may not be as fast as they are now.

with a healthy mcgrady (an 07-08 version at least), i see us being a top FOUR team in the west (lakers, nuggets, spurs are the only ones i see better than us). with a healthy yao (a yao who can at least play 32-33 minutes a game at a high level), i also see us as a top 4 team.

our role players are very good. they just lack a go-to guy right now to calm them down when the better teams go wild on us.

the hopes that either tmac or yao will come back strong is highly unlikely. we'll find out about mcgrady in about 2 weeks. and we'll find out about yao next year.

i don't see us winning a championship until those 2 guys are completely off the team and us rebuilding with this new core and adding a new star.

Just because Camby can fit in with a running team does not make us good enough by any means.

Not to win it all, but it makes us better than if Tmac came back healthy and we had 4 wings and no center or rebounding.

And you do realize Camby is already 35?! How many years do we want him to play well?

    Wow Kenny Smith really???

This Rockets team IMO has amazing chemistry, I was a doubter before, but just I love the work ethic of this team, completely opposite of tslack's mentality.

    Lock if posted.

Yea if a team can make 60% of 3s in a game, that's considered bad luck for us, imo :D.

Fing kings, us @ 7-3 would've been so nice.

We made the playoffs already? Scribo, we clinched the 8th seed already? I must have missed your magic numbers thread.

I need to be updated. Thank you.
