Kenny is right, we will be around the mark but I just don't know if we can make the playoffs with this team as it stands. We will always be losing to the Lakers, Nuggets and Blazers (once scouted) by respectable margins, but you have to occasionally beat these teams to make the playoffs. This is where we need some more talent, both offensively in someone other than AB who can create, and defensively in someone who can rebound and be a blocking threat.
I agree but we as fans must be honest and admit that the team does not and has not consistently run Adelman's offense. We still run ISOs and lack of movement from both Ariza and Brooks. I'm still holding out hope that we will make it there but without better talent, we have to be near perfect game and game out... Again, we'll see what happens.
Marcus Camby is over the hill and a TERRIBLE team defender. He's always been over-rated, but now he's a straight up liability. I honestly don't see what he can contribute. Chuck Hayes is a better rebounder and a vastly superior defender. You know what? I'm saying it. At this point, Chuck Hayes is better than Camby. Also, David Andersen is probably as good or better offensively. Camby is over-paid garbage. Morey would never bring him in. It is not coincidental that Denver became a much better team after they moved Camby for peanuts.
Spears strikes me as a guy who doesn't know dick about the Rockets (witness his thoughts they would be "destroyed" by Portland in last year's playoffs). Occam's razor- Tracy wants to come back as soon as possible to establish a market for his next contract and Rockets want to make sure he is completely healthy because of the experience of last year where the team floundered while he was in and out of the lineup.
He is also an expiring contract.......and would be great for THIS year's team and as a backup to Yao going forward if they decided to sign him. But there are tons of options that would fit in their own ways. Camby, Biedrens, Miller....to name 3. DD
Kenny talks like he was a great player and he wasn't even close. Do remember how he was afraid to drive the lane. Although I like the TNT show, Kenny's analysis are sometimes stupid and Charles anti Rockets sucks but besides that they put on a great show. A healthy T Mac will help any team in the league, he is more of a team player than many stars. Remember last year even while he was hurt he had a triple double and it didn't even look like he was trying. Thats what the problem is, he is so talented and it comes to him so easy that everybody things he not giving his all.
Yeah that was a good point but just because McGrady says he can play and knows his own body doesn't mean he can play.. he said he could play last season too.
Last season he thought he was ready he came back and had 21 points14 boards 11 assists in 3 quarters against denver. then 2 games later the knee was back to being wonky. he might think he knows he's body, but he also has to trust the Dr and the medical staff for the longevity of he's season. i dont think anything sinister is at work, it's more that adelman wants him back hen he can play on both ends of the floor and play back o backs with restriction.
Camby is done. he look like a 50 year old gimpy old man now days. you chose of player are parculiar to say the least. first you had a fetish for maggate who is overrated and is pretty much a bad shot selection machine and now a washedup camby..
I don't know why Kenny still thinks the Rockets won't make the playoffs. 6 teams are basically guaranteed playoffs spots barring major injury: LA, Denver, Portland, Dallas, San Antonio, and Phoenix. 2 spots for 4 teams: Houston, Utah, Sacramento, and OKC. I'm confident we can be one of those teams to grab a low seed.
YOU KNOW YOUR A CRAPPY TEAM WHEN YOUR GOAL IS TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, SOMEONE REMIND ME WHY I'VE BEEN A ROCKETS FAN FOR 18 YEARS.
I remember that Kenny doesn't drive the lane cause the offense was getting the ball to Hakeem in the post first. Maybe I forgot that when Kenny came to the Rockets he was on fire and helped Don Chaney get coach of the Year. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithke01.html 52% field goal shooting and averaging 18 points/game the first time he joined the team. Maybe my memory of the Rockets are different than yours. I remember us being one Kenny Smith shot from beating the Sonics and have the Rockets face Barkley in the WCF and maybe facing the Bulls in the Finals. I remember 2 NBA championships, but it's CLUTCH CITY Kenny is paid for his opinion, if you don't like it, don't agree with it, don't knock his tenure with the Rockets. He was a CONSISTENT STARTER AT PG, which you can't say about anybody these days.
In the last 5 years we've had an average wining of 51 games a year, thats a mighty accomplishment considering almost every year either yao or tracy or someonelse has gone donwn to injury.
