Hakeem couldn't even stop Shawn Kemp, I hardly think he could contain Yao.

I'm sure obviously he can front Yao as Hakeem was one of the quickest and agile centers to ever grace the basketball court, and run Yao down to death.

but now I know you're a YOF. just stop it please.

Only if Wilt, Kareem, Dream, and Shaq are 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha.

You have just made my day, sir. The mental image of Yao playing Hakeem is more than I can handle.

    Exactly.

This guy is a Morey wannabe who posts stats to try to prove things about players he's OBVIOUSLY NEVER seen play. He should WATCH some more basketball before posting this nonsense. UNBELIEVABLE!

With all respect due, you are an idiot. That's the mildest term I can come up with at the moment.

Clearly I'm the one obsessing over a "Hakeem insult" in response to a post not even about Hakeem lol.

I'm on the same page as RTM on this poster. I don't believe he's ever watched a NBA game in his life.

he's not, Pryuen wouldn't embrace this guy.

This guy is not a Rockets fan, look at all his posts, he's insulted Dream, Rudy T, Steve Francis, and the list will keep going on and on.

Well.. I am not really suprised hearing that from Shaq mainly because the rules have changed ever since Yao entered the league. Yao could've dominated even further if the rules haven't change. Everyone knows he couldn't be stop by 1 defender no matter who u put on him. So you really wouldn't know what could've been.

FOR ALL OF YOU WITH NO LONG TERM MEMORY: HAKEEM IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST, PLAYERS TO SPORT A ROCKETS JERSEY!

However, I cannot help stopping to admire what yao brought to the basketball court and the hope he gave me as well as many others as he pulled this once terribly painful, heart wrenching team to watch out of the slums of the league into a contender. As hard as it is to think about what could have been and to ignore the fact that we didn't win any championships, I have enjoyed watching our Rockets in the past few years.

Look you do not even have to be a Rockets fan to know how ridiculously stupid his statement was. Casual fans even pay homage to Hakeem and this fool has the nerve to say that. Clutch needs to off him ASAP.

Actually, his listed height is 7' so you may be thinking of someone else. At any rate, We#re talking in hypotheticals, and hypothetically, if Yao would have stayed healthy throughout his career he probably COULD have become a top 5 center either in achievement or dominance. A 7'6 guy with a shooting touch like Yao had has unknown potential, there's never been another Yao so we have no frame of reference to base our assumptions on. But let's face it, I wouldn't have been an easy match up for ANY center, great or otherwise.
