Another disgusting example of why war sucks. The mistreatment of Iraqi or American prisoners of war sucks. The murder of American or Iraqi civilians sucks. War sucks.
A couple of thoughts. 1. This is aboslutely horrible, and disgusting, and why we should have not diverted funds from Afghanistan and fighting terrorism to invade Iraq. 2. Nobody in their right mind, and nobody on this board has said that the beheading was in anyway justified. That's not true of the murders at AG prison. 3. I agree with Bamma to an extent that this murder might have happened even without the AG prison murders, rape, and torture. Al Qaeda may have saved this person for another cause, though until this came up, and they saw a way to get some more publicity, increase their credibility etc. and they used it. So in that regard there may be some indirect connection. 4. The liberals on this board have not bashed the U.S. military except those responsible for murder, rape, and torture in AG prison, and failing to uphold American ideals. I would think anyone who cared about the country would be concerened about that. 5. The fact that there were some members of Al Qaeda in Iraq proves zero about a connection, as does this beheading. Even while calling for Saddam's overthrow Al Qaeda talked about being concerned for innocents inside Iraq and the harm done by the UN sanctions. The fact that they would commit a brutal and horrible murder in an act of 'retribution' for the AG prison murders and pictures does not lend any evidence at all to making a connection to Saddam and Al Qaeda. The fact remains that there were Al Qaeda operatives inside the U.S. both before and after 9/11, but that doesn't mean there is a connection between the U.S. govt. and Al - Qaeda. 6. If the defenders of U.S. rape, torture and murder against POW's have accused the critics of that conduct of worrying more about that than about the beheading of this U.S. contractor. But judging by this thread they have spent more time attacking U.S. citizens who have criticized the torture, than they have criticizing the beheading. Let's all get our priorities straight shall we.
Dude, ur a f***ing idiot. If the Iraqi army did this I would love to go kick their asses, or treat their prisoners bad, but this was done by terrorists... The actions of the soldiers in the prisons wasnt the actions of any terrorist group, but instead it was the actions of AMERICAN SOLDIERS.... BIG DIFFERENCE smart one. ------------------------------- These dumass psycho's need to understand that actions like these will not help their cause. Beheading a person that had nothing to do with the war does not have anything to do with the Islamic religion.
No mistakes...no coverup...no subject changes. Rumsfeld said there is no connection. It is in black and white. Irrefutable. "War on Terror" is not justification for waging war on a country. Perhaps you can go checkout that "CD" thread so you can brush up on reading comprehension.
No connection to 9-11. You stated there was no connection to terror. Rumsfeld stated that there *was* connection to terror. GAME OVER
My point is that we are dealing with a different animal here....not your everyday soldiers who abide by the geneva convention as we are supposed to be doing. This war has a lot more to do with terrorism than some of the people here give it credit for. This tape is a prime example. The type of enemy we are dealing with is unprecedented...and thus calls for unprecedented means.
The people on the tape is who we should have been fighting against this whole time, not Iraq. They were based outside of AFghanistan and Pakistan. That's where our focus was, until the build up for the Iraq war started. Maybe if we'd finished the job there this would have been prevented.
I'm not. I'm a liberal who celebrates deaths of people when it politically convienences me. Oh wait... mc mark, he threatened Batman Jones yesterday, yet nothing's been done about it. Maybe I'll be a tattletale and report that message if no one else has.
