I like Bull in the last second yell at the officials "Are you kidding me!" NBA needs to do something. That's terrible.
We don't hear anything about crooked referees (amazing how that story magically went away), but I don't think the game is completely clean. I still think some weeding out needs to be done. I wonder if the league is too afraid to "go there".
I will give you Scola.. I blame it on playing in Europe for so long. But I won't agree with Shane and Chuck. They may "embellish" a foul, but they take contact when they do. Juwan Howard tried to mimic the two of them last year, but he just flopped instead, creating invisible contact.
I'd say for the most part there is legitimate contact. But they, Shane in particular, have definitely delivered some grade A flops. With that said, all three of those guys are amongst my favorites on the team.
I remember that play...I was so PO'd...I was like WTF is that BS... typical utah call...i hope the fakers kick their arse...
Good luck with that, I wouldn't be surprised if kobe averages somewhere between 15-20 fts per game in this series...
I suggested that too. The NBA will never do that because it makes too much sense. Again, I don't mind as much when defensive players exaggerate the contact to sell the offensive foul. Those plays should have been called anyways. I call this passive flopping. What I hate is the active flopping when the perpetrator CREATES the contact or the illusion of a contact to get a call. That's cheating. Also, I hate the so-called "initiate contact" game when a penetrator throws his body at the defender and those plays always results in defensive fouls.
I said that in another thread. I think Utah can beat them handily if the game is officiated the same way as with Rockets. And I for one believe they were numerous missed calls on both ends.
No...this is by far the WORST flop I've ever seen. I think Stern seriously needs to start letting refs give techs for flopping, it's an absolute joke. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MTdERYOtqsg&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MTdERYOtqsg&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Baron Davis isnt a flopper. But he was getting very frustrated at the flopping being done and called in favor of the Jazz. So he did it to show up the Jazz and the REFS who were stupid enough to call it. Its like in teh Sacremento game where T-Mac flopped and got the call. T-Mac isnt a flopper. But when the game is being officiated terribly and refs are falling for flops, sometimes it pays to try and send a message to the league about it. Without saying anything.
I remember seeing that game live, and after it Baron Davis became easily one of top 3 favorite players in the league. He did it on purpose to show up Okur and embarrass him for the little girl he is. All time classic!
Lets do something about flopping sort of like Soccer. I know you can't really stop the game to check a replay and see if it was a flop but it would be nice if the league had a way of reviewing games and flops and actually hand down minor punishments if they are caught flopping. After a while it will definitley slow it down some because they will be conscious of it. With Soccer if the ref sees you flopping you can easily be issued a yellow card.
I would say that they refs should be able to start calling the hockey "diving" foul. But they don't even recognize flops as it is. If they did, they would at least be no calls or in the case of this Scola foul, the foul would be called on the other side. It seems like the refs fall for it every time. They see a body hit the floor and just assume they got fouled. So I don't know how they're going to start calling "flopping" fouls if they can't even see the flops now. More than likely they would f**k that up too and start calling "flopping" fouls on legitimate blocks.
