I too was convinced by the logical and objective arguments of some of my fellow posters and I am now convinced like EbolaScola that in reality it was the Rockets who did not play fairly, and that the refs obviously miscalled the games in our favor, and it was only good Kharma that the fair and just and skilled players of the Utah Jazz emerged triumphant. I would ask Mr. Morey not to resort to such tasteless and unsportsmanlike behavior of sending tapes of specific plays and trends of opponent behavior to the NBA office. They have better things to do with their time such as to schedule offseason trips to Las Vegas with the Referees Association. (EbolaScola what are the effects? is there a shot for that disease? Perhaps Patron Tequila helps? Dosage?)
that horry flop was awesome.... can't beat jvg commentating either. van gundy was just as funny when he was coaching here unfortunately it went over so many peoples heads who couldn't hear anything but what they wanted to hear.
The Jazz cheat, they play an ugly cheating style of basketball, and it is why the fans in Houston hold them in such disdain. They have been cheating for years....it is not about acting, it is about cheating. They had the better team this year, no excuses, but they should be ashamed...... Cheating like that is disgraceful, thank God the good lord sees to it that they never win a championship. Because, cheaters, never win. DD
what really annoys me is that they clearly have the more talented team as we were saddled with injuries, and they still had to resort to this rubbish to win games. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLAY BASKETBALL FAIRLY FOR ONCE UTAH
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLAY BASKETBALL FAIRLY FOR ONCE UTAH
According to Sloan that is fair play. It's only cheating if you get caught...
This is flopping to the next level. There's the first degree of flopping which is where you flail your arms and fall to the ground at the first hint of contact. That's the Kirilenko flop in Game 2 and the Horry flop in the YouTube vid. Then there's the second degree where you pull somebody down and get the foul called on them. I think it was Game 5 where Kirilenko grabbed TMAC's arm and pulled him down and TMAC got called for an offensive foul. That's even worse and shows just how incompetent the refs have become. Not only can they not recognize a flop, but they can't recognize a flop when they grab a player and pull them down. That's pretty much inexcusable.
Exactly. If the NBA would simply review players actions and suspend them for doing these things...then the problem would go away. DD
see Bill Belicheck I also believe that the Jazz are taught how to cheat, and that Sloan and his staff are very good at teaching techniques on how to disguise the contact. As we all know, it has been part of their game for years. I also would venture to say that these techniques are THE ONLY reason that they are the best offensive rebounding team in the league.
DING DING DING. I've been saying it for a year now. Simply have the league REVIEW EVERY GAME FOR FLOPPING and SUSPEND the players they deem offending. DO THIS FOR EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Clear up the mess in two weeks. It's so simple - argh!
Isn't it amazing how Kobe and the Lakers seem to get the calls against the Jazz but McGrady and the Rockets don't in identical situations? It seems to me that all NBA rules apply except for the Rockets. You are allowed to push them with two hands (especially pushing out Yao), bump them on the perimeter (especially when TMac is driving), and push them out when rebounding. Oh, and all flops by the opponent will be called fouls against the Rockets. Some classic calls this year were against Yao. I remember when he was literally taken down (tackled and thrown to the ground) in the post and they called a foul on Yao. Another classic was when Gasol (with Memphis) drove around Yao and Yao had his hands up and got called for the foul when replays showed that Yao never got closer than 1 foot away from Gasol and clearly made no contact. The NBA needs a challenge system like the NFL. Furthermore, it needs a punative challenge system. If a ref is on the wrong end of a challenge too many times, he needs to be fined or get an honorable job like selling vacuum cleaners door to door.
