Sorry for your experience. I would hope you wouldn't judge me or my family members based on those. So would you have a problem with me judging white males after my nephew was molested by one? I choose not to and it hasn't happened again and I feel prepared and safe without the judgement. To each his own I guess but at least you admit it.
I think if people stop focusing on skin tone they would realize that economics are far more relevent. DD
There are 6.2 times as many whites as blacks in the United States, yet the number of white offenders of white victims is only 3 times that of black offenders. That means that blacks are overrepresented by 205%, making any individual black person twice as likely to rape a white person. It's even worse for black on black rape, as the number of white offenders is so low that it's only reported as "negligible", where as it should be 6 times that of the black offenders (or somewhere around 129,000). Black offenders are overrepresented by 333% in this case. Your numbers may show that someone is more likely to be raped by a white man than a black man (due merely to their being 6.2 times as many whites in this country) but not at all that an individual white man is more likely to rape someone. Quite the contrary, in fact.
Look, we can keep flipping statistics back and forth and say who is right and who is wrong, who does it more and less or whatever. I am still not going to judge anybody without getting to know at least a little something about them first.
No, because I could come back and say what RR said. There are more white than black offenders, it's as simple as that. Then you could come back with your's and it would keep going in a big, endless circle. If it makes you feel like you somehow one upped me, as your previous post seems to indicate, then congratulations, I guess, you win.....what? My grandfather was in the KKK (treasurer) and was on 60 Minutes and they used a lot of those same stats and reasonings to justify their hatred and treatment of different racial, foreign and religious groups. I refuse to fall into that line of thinking, sorry. I'm just going to say that I refrain from judging people based on a characteristic they cannot control and if you feel like those stats give you your justification in doing so, then fine do your thing as I have said already.
There is a problem in all communities with violent crime. It is a huge problem in the black community. Although I personally believe income and education levels are the biggest factors, to deny that this isn't a larger issue in the black community is being naive.
I would punch a pregnant woman. Just because she is pregnant doesnt mean she is immune to my wrath...
What defense did I come to? I just asked a question and then I said the girls were wrong. Next time actually read the thread.

I agree to a certain extent but I think it also has to do with culture. From hip hop, music videos, etc. It is seen as cool to be street and gangster and its what the strive for. So you cant say its mostly economics. There are far poorer people in other parts of the world yet you are not likely to get raped, mugged, or beaten. Why is it that most people will generally be afraid to walk through certain parts of LA?? It's not just because of economics.
But of course it matters what is MORE LIKELY. Yes a gangster could be a asian or white guy and there are plenty of them but what do stats/facts show us? That most gang violence are young black men. Can you deny this fact? So if you can accept that fact what is wrong with avoiding those that fit the profile as a gangster. They could turn out to be Mother Teresa but you dont know that.
Exactly my point though. It DOES NOT make you a racist. I never said it makes you a racist. You are the one who is accusing people of who judge people by appearance as being racist here. I have been trying to show you how acknowledging certain facts and profiles of people and being aware of those DOES NOT make you a racist. It's called awareness. Now take the example above. Yes any of those people can be wearing baggy pants and dress like a thug but IS THAT MORE LIKELY?? No it's not. Who do you think is more likely to be a gangster? The old lady? obviously not.
