i remember when i first moved to america, new york city, queens... taking the subway, i was sitting there minding my own business, some black guy came to me, tapped me on the shoulder, asked me to stand up... thinking he needed help, i stood up, when i stood up, he sat down... and started laughing... what is a sensible person being suppose to do? punch him? i didn't speak any english, he was with 2 friends, i was outnumbered
Saw this on the news as I am in Seattle for the holidays. None of the passengers did anything to help. After they all got off, one guy even said "they're off the bus now, let's go". The Seattle PD said it was disheartening to see nobody attempt to stop it, but then the news said the PD's advice is to not get involved and call 911. It is the safest thing to do for any bystanders, but it was probably sadder to see their callousness and ignore it like it was nothing.
Read the article posted above. It's all part of their rouse. Dude didn't really steal the iPhone. I had no idea what was happening until I read that article.
Public transportation sucks so much!!! Is that girl a freaking crazy person, swinging like crazy!!!! Where the hell is this guy when you need him???
i hate people like that...she probably didnt even know the full story and just walked in and started escalating things...first by taking her phone and then by throwing wild punches whent he other two weren't really even fighting. Props to the guy...after that last kick to the face i was sure he was going to floor her, but he stayed cool..

You're right to some extent. There is a difference in being blindly racist and in making an informed decision based on past experiences and, in some cases, statistical data. For example, if someone said "would you rather be stuck in a closet with a dog, or a snake?", I'd choose the dog. Of course the dog could turn out to be rabid and the snake could be a mostly harmless rat snake, but it's still best to base my decision on what's more likely based on generalities. Nobody would ever say "you're being specieist" for choosing the dog. It's just a natural part of survival, but people get very touchy about the subject when applying it to other humans. It is indeed a tough thing to negotiate sometimes.
You don't do anything. Not worth the chance that they'd kick your ass, or even worse shoot you. You just never know, which makes public transit uncomfortable. I can't get my wife back on the MARTA (ATL's public transit system).
oldest trick in the book. Let me tell you a story, when I was playing pick-up game at 9pm, a group of black ballers (i thought we was cool) came up to me telling me I had their phone in my car. Me like a dumbass hears the phone ringing under my car, so I bend over to see his phone covered in a shirt. Luckily the park man smelled trouble from a mile away and stood there by me. That strategy was to beat my ass and take my civic.
well.. yeah, if the passengers knew that a pregnant teen was being beat on by the four people who tried to steal her iphone, then i think someone would have done something.. but if you just saw random people fighting on a bus.. who's going to get involved in that.
Are you talking about that CBS news article? I didn't see any mention of them running a con game on those white kids. Still confused as to what happened.
This is part of their plan.. steal something and then act all innocent. They were all in on it together. If you watch the video at 40 seconds into the video the one girl steals and rips her ipod right out of the white girls hands and pretends nothing happened.
So, from one side of their mouth, the PD says,"don't get involved. Call 911".. and then they also say, "it's disheartening to see nobody attempt to stop it." How's that for a mixed message?
I agree but the crime is out of control anymore and it has a lot to do with the economy believe it or not. When the economy is in the crapper, folks are going to do just about anything they want to make a buck. I'm not saying that's what happened here but this stuff happens all the time. You should see some of the stuff that happens on the northside.
Yeah no doubt. The north side of town has really taken a turn for the worse. I live around Champions so it concerns me.
