I've been saying this for a while, but when his confidence is up he's a pretty damn good player. In the beginning of his PT, he was just looking to pass anytime he touched the ball. Hopefully tonight is the start of him asserting himself more.

If Patrick can keep that style of play up, he will be a crucial piece of future Rockets' success. But he's had his off nights too, where he wasn't bringing that kind of energy. Let's hope he sees this as an opportunity and continues to improve. I already like his work ethic and team focus.

Do you realize that Patz will be a beast next season? ;) I don't recall McDyess being a good defender. Could be wrong. Still think he will be better.

Patterson is going to use the second half to show the NBA who the REAL ROY is!

It's kinda a good comparison though. You never want to leave Boozer open for that mid-range shot and he's crafty around the rim.

The main difference is Booze is a better rebounder and hopefully Patterson can improve that.

Hopefully RA will wake up and INCREASE his mins.

Yeah I was going to say big words on the McDyess comparison. AM could jump out of the gym, freaky athletic and was on his way to stardom. Very very good player.

Precisely, Boozer was one of the more underrated signings this off-season.

The guy is a legitimate post-player who has mid-range game as well. Can grab the boards for you as well.

If Patterson could turn into a Boozer caliber player then Morey wins once again.

I hate Boozer as much as the next guy, but if Patterson's game turns out to be a lot like Boozer's, then I'll be ecstatic.

He doesn't seem to have Boozer's innate rebounding ability. Boozer has great hands for catching the ball in traffic.

He could be a better team defender, though.

I would trade the guy while his value is high. He seems like another Carl Landry. He's gonna be good on a good team. But not someone you can build around. The Rocket need players with high ceilings.

Landry is never a good defender. Patterson is already pretty solid.
Landry didn't have a good midrange jumper until the second half of his second year. Patterson already has better range than Landry.
Patterson has a wider body and a longer wingspan. There's a reason Patterson was a lottery pick while Landry was a second rounder.

It's not in Clutch's highlight clip but I noticed the team ran a few plays to try to get the ball to Patterson in the post. It looks like they're ready to expand his offensive game, after limiting him to mostly mid-range jumpers and putbacks in the first half of the season.

Too early to say if he'll be Boozer's equal on offense, but he definitely hasn't shown us everything he can do yet.

Great game by PPat. I know PPat can play. He can do mid range jumper, defense and rebound. He's an ideal role player for any team in this league. Add weight to 250 pounds he will be more than a role player.
