    He's a career .374 3-pt shooter... No surprise he's falling off.

    My thoughts as well.

I sure hope Morey didn't sell our souls by promising Josh Smith a permanent starting job.

Lately, DMo is a better post scorer/facilitator than Howard.

Our offense stagnates when going through Howard.
Dmo spins and scores or draws a double team and finds and open man.
If Howard gets it down low, he's got a one track mind and everyone
on the court knows where he's going.

If you've been watching games, you can easily tell our offense is just
not the same as it was before Smith was inserted. Maybe that will change
with time, but how many games can we afford to experiment?

Yup. That pace was unsustainable -- looks to me like his shot has gone wherever Ariza's went to keep it company. Ariza's shooting 32% from the floor this month so far. Fun times ahead when Brewer starts trending back to earth. [IMG]

Shooting slumps aside though -- none of that aligns with the comment about guys caring about who gets the steal or whatever other stat. That sounds like a different (new) issue altogether, one that didn't appear to be a problem even a handful of games ago.

Two things McHale could do. 1) Have him start but let DMO play more significantly and finish the game or 2) communicate with him a plan to work him into the starting lineup

Either of these would be consistent with what was promised to him if it was indeed promised to him. If he wants to win, he shouldn't mind. We were doing just fine (actually more than fine) with DMO starting. We shouldnt be taking a step back.

Complaining about his touches? Has to be Howard...you know it isn't Harden, Ariza, Smith or Beverley.....

But then, it was great to see Brewer, Dmo and even Dorsey making
things happen to bring us back in the game.

Was disheartening to see our starters give it all back at the end.
Our 2nd unit embarrassed our starters.

I'm also thinking we may need to switch Brewer and Ariza until
Trevor gets his mojo back. Brewer has been a torch lately.
A great pickup so far. And what a motor on that guy.

For an offensive scheme that is dependent upon 3 pointers, we are
less than average when it comes to 3Pt %.
We are currently 18th out of the 30 teams. That's a telling statistic.
We're one of the worst teams in FT %. (28th out of 30)

Throw in our 25 turnovers a game, and 12 missed FT's per game and
you have a recipe for disaster. Hard to overcome those numbers.

Yea.. Only two players come to mind:

Harden - going for that MVP
Howard - probably wants more touches

If I had to guess, I'd say it's Howard. He's giving zero effort, and Wall stole multiple rebounds from him with sheer effort. Although there was a moment towards the end of the game when Harden was dribbling out the shot clock and Bev had a wide open look from the corner 3... and Harden would not give him the ball until the last moment. Who knows. They are professionals... grown men... this needs to be figured out. I will say this: seems like the Rockets were enjoying themselves a lot more before Morey brought in these new faces.

LOL. I saw that Harden hesitation -- given how terrible Bev has been from 3 these last two games, I can't say I completely blame him. But my best guess would also be Dwight.

    - If anything, Harden has looked mildly uninterested in handling the ball lately, for whatever reason.
    - Ariza gets plenty of touches, and he doesn't seem like the type who'd whine about that kind of thing, though I could be wrong.
    - Bev has always been a do-whatever-they-need-me-to-do kinda guy, and it doesn't make sense (to me) that he'd call out the issue if he was the one with the problem lol.
    - Josh has been downright overly deferential since moving to the starting lineup.

That leaves the only person who's been rumored to complain about touches on his prior teams, so... yeah. That would also explain his lack of effort on the defensive end. It became apparent pretty quickly last season that he checks out of the game if he feels he isn't sufficiently involved offensively.

First let me say I love Pat Bev. Real as they come!!! BUT as much as I hate to say this it's the point guards(his) job to make sure his team plays as a team. This game tonight is why I feel this team could use a Rondo/Lowry/Paul/Parker type Point Guard. You put either one of those PGs on our team tonight and we don't lose that game. You can assemble all the talent in the world but if you don't have a floor general to direct it, all you have is a first round exit.

That was a really good interview from Beverly. It is disheartening the way we played tonight. We have the talent to be in the finals. It is all about how well we can incorporate team ball. If we can do that this team can go far. The ball didn't stop because Howard got the ball in the post. It stopped because no one knew what to do once he got it. They need to watch the plays the Rockets played when Dream got the ball. No one was just standing around playing slap and tickle at the three point line. People were cutting alashing and moving. It keeps everyone on their toes. It also takes away aomebof the focus away from Dwight. We need Carrol Dawson and Rudy T back. The offence we played tonight reeks of JVG all over.

    No doubt.

I think it comes down to Dwight having an identity crisis. Unfortunately, he's not a dominant offensive force that everyone wants him to be. If Dwight would accept a junkyard dog role, where he owns the boards + plays elite defense + some offensive touches here & there.. I think that's the sweet spot.

Seems like Dwight is not down with that (or maybe McHale/Morey think Dwight is a dominant offensive force). I am not sure. Hope they figure it out.

its definitely Howard harping about his touches. and like a little kid this frustration affects the whole rest of his game.

tycoon, the reason they dont run around without the ball is because the roster is purposefully put together that way. how much running and pick setting do you need to do when the gameplan consists of jacking up 3s and running into people hoping for the foul call?

Dwight also mentioned guys being concerned about touches and minutes:

I love both interviews. However, talk is cheap. You have to go out there and do it. I can see this team bouncing back and having a great game Wednesday night, if they can back their words up that is.

For the mental midget "Morey's offense plan makes guys stand around!" crowd, I have a few questions.

Why does D-Mo constantly set picks and move around without the ball?
Why does Papanikalaou constantly move without the ball?
Why does Brewer constantly move without the ball?

Why did Morey ever get those guys if he's ruining the team with his strategies?

Morey's mistake is Smith. And Bev has turned into a moron.

How many times did Dwight say the words "stick" and "together"?

This was a problem last year where they kept saying they were not on the same page. It seemed Harden and Howard bought in, but I reckon both along with Josh want their touches more than winning..
