let me know when nick records at least 20 points, 7 assists, and a steal in 6 consecutive games coming off the bench as a third stringer against elite teams

I like him too, but damn we are quick to overrate our rookies. Let's not forget that Royce White was Magic Johnson, TJones was KG, and DMo was Duncan to some people here after their summer league games.

Like Isiah said, I can see him being a rotation player this season. I do kinda fear what someone else pointed out -- someone insisting on him as an asset in a trade. I would be very sad to see him lighting it up in a Sixers uniform, likely being taught bad habits.

Here's the problem with the Davind Thompson or Joe Dumars comparisons. They were way above average to exceptional in certain areas for a while. Thompson averaged over 24 ppg for 5 of his first six seasons. Dumars took a while to develop offensively as a scorer but was an above average assist man and ball handler. He could run the offense as point, or eventually be more of the two guard scorer.

Again... Nick can get there and may. But Bradley seems the better comp. not an exceptional scorer. Not an exceptional ball handler or assist man. AND way undersized for the 2. Their exceptional skills are defensively. So if Nick can hang defensively with most two guard and just as often if not more so be out in situations to defend PGs ... That's how he sees the court and slowly evolves an offensive game.

But I think it will be hard. Avery Bradley types are exceedingly rare and even then take time to develop and luck.

There is something about Nick Johnson that reminds me of Lillard when he first came out of college. If I was Les, I would tell. Morey to trade out of the first round for multiple second rounders every year because his track records seems much better in the early second round than in the late first.

If Nick Johnson continues to impress and make a name of himself in the summer league, he may already be an additional valuable trade asset to add to a Kevin Love package.

I mean, we saw Sam Presti fall in love with Jeremy Lamb in our SL and he probably hoped he was the star piece among the assets received in the Harden trade. Oops!

This is actually good for us though, if Nick Johnson had an average shooting ability there was no way he'd go down all the way to the 2nd round. 3 pt shot is the easiest thing to work on in the NBA we've seen examples of horrible shooters develop an average NBA 3 pt shot like Kyle Lowry, Tony parker and of course the Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.

Anyway it's crazy he fell to us in the 2nd round, the height thing is really overblown he's just 2 inches smaller than Lin who can play SG.
