I believe Weird Al actually tried to get permission to parody one of his songs and was denied.

I think what made him famous was that he came out talking about himself. He knew he was a white rapper and he didn't give a crap what people thought about white rappers in general and that's what made him have relevance.

Now he is cultural critic? I think that it is clear that EM feels he has a right to make fun of anybody that is not black and as long as he gives black people a free ride his songs aren't really that funny and they don't mean crap. At least weird al has the balls to parody gangsters paradise.

Completely agree. When has he NOT done this? First it was My Name Is, then The Real Slim Shady, etc. This will probably be the only comedy song on his whole album. Eminem is one of the greatest rappers ever, and people still fail to give him credit only because of these little gimmick songs that don't even matter. He's basically marketing himself to a whole different fanbase with these types of songs.

Eminem has really lost it with his more recent material..

He used to have good listen able lyrics but, the whole "Crack A Bottle" thing is not working for me.

I'm pretty sure mainstream radio is doing a good job shoving that non-sense down our youth throats with consistently playing it...I'll be jamming to Al Green if anybody needs me..

I highlighted the black people in red for you...
...and Jarule was mentioned earlier. What, What are you talking about?

EDIT: Sorry shaud, this post was all directed at what. I was just using your post to show that he's talked about plenty of black people, since you already mentioned them.

Just saying it is hard to take Em serious as a top rapper with the people he has dissed.

I didn't even listen to the diss but I know when him and Ja was beefing he tried to call off the beef when Ja dissed him and his fam pretty bad.

I take part of my comment back since I heard that he also dissed Wayne in the thing, but still half of the people he disses as a rapper he should not even be concerned with.

I don't get how I forgot about those beefs.

I like Em when he is serious for example one of my favorite songs by him and one of my favorite of all-time is "Stan". Em is a really good rapper when making songs where he is being serious.

What kills me about Em is he is wayyyyyyyy too talented to make some of these corny gimmicky type songs that he makes. For example that song with the hook saying "My pee pee go da dong dong".

I'm hoping this next album is showing the serious side of Em.

Sidenote - A lot of rappers are dropping albums this year, should be a good year. I bought Jada's album today, I haven't listened to it yet though.

Isn't that just rap though? I mean it seems that all rappers must drop that first single that is one of three things:

    1. Appeals to a large audience that will buy the crap out of it

    2. Is gimmicky, catchy, etc.

    3. You can dance to it.

Seldom do you see rappers succeed, sales wise, if their first single does not do one of these.

Like I said before, he's done these mainstream, satirical songs on every CD he's put out. I agree that he is way too talented to waste a track on his CD with these songs, but he's all about appealing to a broader demographic with them. He's going after the fans who aren't really into rap - the TRL crowd. It gets the upper-middle class kids to ask their parents for $15 bucks to go buy his album. I guess you could call it "selling out", but it gets his album to shoot up the mainstream charts and that makes the numbers in his bank account shoot up.

    amazing.

Rappers insult each other back and forth in order to cause controversy - this gives them the media and social attention that they want.

... and it works. Rap fans get their feathers ruffled, create bbs threads... and buy product.

    suckers

Pretty much, but I don't think Em has to do that to sell though because he already created a name for himself.

People who come out with those songs are usually just trying to get noticed ex. D4L, Soulja Boy, Mike Jones etc.

Em could be serious and sell if he wanted too. IMO

Yeah I know and I agree with what you are saying but I think he could still sell without having to do that. He has a very dedicated fan base.

I thought "Just Lose It" was his worst 1st single until i heard this one. It seems like Eminem has lost his desire and motivation to put out good music. I believe "The Eminem Show" was his creative peak and he's been on a downward spiral with every song he's put out since then. He abandoned the angry rapping for some kind of half rap half singing voice that is terrible. I'm hoping there is a "Way I Am", "Sing For The Moment" or "Lose Yourself" on this album but i'm not holding my breath.

He used the same chick from "Who's Nailin Paylin" in the video, that's funny.

...another person who doesn't listen to rap and has no idea what he's talking about.

Rap battles are a HUGE part of hip hop. Mainstream rappers battle non-mainstream rappers, non-mainstream rappers battle each other, heck middle school students battle each other. It is not about "controversy", it's partially what rap was born from, they used to call it playing the dozens.

First, terrible thread title. In the entire video, those two people appear for a grand total of maybe 6 seconds.

Second, does anyone in their right mind actually *listen* to this noise-mess? Much less pay actual *money* for it?
