He sure played big in the biggest college games. He showed up big time during the NCAA tournament and really big in the final 4.

its not that CDR isnt athletic, hes fairly decent we all dont have to watch and believe that video we saw i remember watching him in a few games, hes not that bad. plus he knows! how to use his body and has that quick first step. just because he cant wow us doesn't mean hes not athletic, and about dribbling im pretty damn sure he knows how to dribble the damn ball again he cant just wow us on how he dribbles, he a very unorthodox player, but knows how to play, KNOWS HOW TO PLAY. and he his pretty good I.Q in my opinion i seen him play a few times. and hes also a fairly defensive player when he wants to be.

They said he's not VERY athletic......which means he is a GOOD athlete, but not any eyepopping one, and certainly not as good as some general fans (cough cough BANDWAGONERS) give him credit for. But sometimes solid athleticism in the NBA is all you need in order for success as a MAJOR ROLE player-kinda like David West. The other knock on him is his inconsistent jumpshot, not in the mechanical sense, but he lacks a quick release, although it is high enough.

Brandon Rush on the other hand, has a very reliable jumpshot and better athleticism, and is already NBA ready body and skills wise. He just needs to improve on his handling and fine tuning, but they are certainly all improvable.

If Rush is available, I'd still rather pick him. But both are nice players regardless.

Not athletic? Wow, CDR is extremely athletic maybe not Snyder level but at least he has a brain. He can dribble decent enough. He is a smart, athetic slasher which is hard to find. I guess you never saw the dunk against Kevin Love and UCLA when CDR dunked it left-handed with ease and made Klove his biatch. That is when I hoped we might get CDR. Don't listen to this guy people, CDR IS athletic. I agree with the guy who says he reminds him of Josh Howard. Howard doesn't strike me as a good dribbler, but somehow his slow crossover fools Battier everytime. He also is extremely unorthodox like Howard maybe moreso. That is the biggest knock against him. His game is solid all-around.

next thing we need is another terrible FT shooter. he choked away a national title folks at the line!

another thing is his suspect ball handling skills watching him play in the tournament all I could think of is how unorthodox his style was when driving it all seemed out of control. there wasnt anything real fluid about it.

Rush is a different story I would love to get him at 25. but i will pass on CDR unless something drastic changes about his game from now till thursday.

Damn that was a nasty dunk. CDR threw that down with authority. KLove was falling down like someone shot him. I like CDR's body control the way he can handle with both his left and right hand. From the mock drafts that I've been seeing CDR will be there at 25.

The Josh Howard comparisons are interesting. Early on, Howard seemed to score more for the mavs the LESS he had the ball. He'd get an offensive rebound or it would just end up in his hands and he'd slash his way in somehow. It was very unorthodox for a perimeter player and very annoying. But he's much more of an iso guy now. I don't think CDR plays the same way, though.

And why the fascination with Rush? He also has weak handles and can't score much himself. What's the point of all that athleticism if you can't control it? He might as well be Rodney Carney 2.0. He was projected as a late first rounder all year and didn't do much during the tourney. Now he's a possible lottery pick? How'd he improve his stock so much? I know he tore his ACL and all, but it didn't seem to effect him on the defensive end.

Well, you don't need to be explosive to play great defense. Ask Shane Battier or Bruce Bowen. It's a lot more important on the offensive side of things.

Since you've seen Rush play how does he compare to Brandon Roy in college? Skill wise or impact wise? Watching him in some clips he reminds me of a shorter Robert Horry...both good and bad. I dont know if its his hair or the fact that he wears number 25 was throwing me off, but his game/skills to me looks Robert Horry in a swingman body. I think I see a little inkling of Roy too but every one says his handles are not too great.

am i the only one who feels this guy falling this far in the draft is a pipe dream. he seems like at least a top 15 pick. he's a tall shooting guard who can get to the basket. i understand he's thin, but he seems to me a valuable commodity.

He IS a valuable commodity - but he won't go in the top 15.

The fascination with "talent" will see him drop - that is, guys that "look smooth".

CDR has a totally unorthodox style (As you can see in those videos), and even his jumpshot looks ugly.

    Thing is, it goes in.

His shooting % from 3pt land in college:

    Freshman: 31% (0.3 from 0.9) 23mpg
    Sophmore: 32.8% (0.5 from 1.7) 26mpg
    Junior: 41.3% (1.1 from 2.7) 28mpg

EITHER he improved his ability to take and make 3s over the course of his college career OR last season was a total fluke.

Just looking at the stats there, it would APPEAR as though the number of attempts increases each year (significantly more than the minutes) which would indicate that he has been improving as a distance shooter.

If we don't move up, it's either CDR or Jason Thompson at #25!!

He mayb have choked on the line, but I doubt he will be on teh floor in crunch time. I think it is safe to say Battie and T-Mac would be on the floor during those situations. Plus he is young and can still develop that quality of being calm and executing under pressure.
