The least realistic thing in that whole clip was the Asian guy reading a newspaper on the airplane.

Like there's going to be any newspapers by 2019.....

I disagree - how are you gonna write and edit a paper without a keyboard?

The mouse can be replaced by touch screens, but even thouch screen keyboards can't replace real keyboards.

No, I think keyboards are here to stay.

Use your voice... tell the computer what you want it to write. Geez, we've had voice dictation for years. :D The next evolutionary step is actually controlling the computer using your voice... not to mention, Microsoft already has stuff like this in the operating systems. And what are you still doing using paper? Geez. Cavemen! :D

Why can't touch screen keyboards (or virtual keyboards) replace real keyboards?

... and we still have keyboards.

because you can't type accurately and quickly with them and the feel is awful.

Geez, you have no vision. You're the guy that said "we've had birds for thousands of years, but we still can't fly" back in the 1700's. lol.

Eventually we'll have some kind of nodule we attach to our head that will read our brain waves to interpret what we want to do, no more mouse or keyboard.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but voice direction seems terribly exhausting to me. Not to mention noisy. I'm trying to imagine working in that office.

I'm going to assume that you're kidding. :D

the dude in 1899 said we have hit the climax of human engineering, and look at us now /flex

because we're no longer subjected to natural selection(which angers me), our only medium of evolution is.... technology

so yea, in 1000 years from now, when humans age upwards of 200+ years, the common child will be in school for 40+ years learning doctorate material

dang i wish i can be father time and just observe

Oh come on now, guys. I'm not saying we've advanced as far as we can.

I'm just saying that there are SOME things like keyboards, applications, files, and directories which aren't going to go away.

10 years ago, there was this Japanese guy at USC told me that we could pause live TV, I just could not grasp what he was saying. Same 10 years ago, I told co-worker, it would be awesome to have a walkman like player that plays mp3 files, he told me that I was crazy because it can't be done, too much processing power and heat etc. Look at a cell phone of 10 year ago and compare it with a iphone now.

Lots of stuff I see in this MS ads are like fantasy, not practical, not useful. We still have large % of people on this planet living under poverty. If this is what MS has been doing for the future research, some eye candy toys, I am really disappointed.

Microsoft is in the business of increasing business productivity. I don't see how people living in poverty has to do with their core business. You can get with the Gates Foundation for that other stuff.
As for the stuff I see in that video, I see it as productivity enhancements - increased mobility, connectivity, etc.

Jesus, you people are myopic!!! That's when the cone of silence drops from the ceiling to isolate your voice!!! Either that or your "cube" will truly become a cube that is soundproof!!!

How useful is an mp3 player? Seriously, what does the thing do for you other than play an audiobook or some mp3's? Does it solve poverty? I'm willing to argue the collaborative, editing, and booking features shown in Microsoft's video help solve poverty more than the mp3 player will. There are many ways to use an invention/idea - xrays weren't immediately turned into x-ray machines, steel wasn't immediately turned into hospital beds, etc. It's all an evolutionary step.
