Either Dwight's got to make them, or Asik has got to; Twin Towers won't work otherwise. So might as well try...

Asik's post up game is even weaker.

Maybe camp out Dwight so they can PnR with Asik; and then camp out Asik so they can PnR with Dwight. And then camp out both guys for Harden or Lin to penetrate to the basket. And then post up Dwight. Mix it up. Mess with their heads.

Make Howard play point guard and Asik shooting guard just to confuse the other team. While Beverley catching all the rebounds for the Rockets.

Terrence Jones shot 29% from 3 last year for the Vipers (even worse for the Rockets I think) and yet fans still have no problem trotting Jones out into the starting lineup as the "stretch 4". Well, Howard can do everything Jones can do only 10 times better plus I'd be willing to bet Howard in addition could shoot somewhere around 30% from 3 if given the opportunity.

In other words: Howard, Asik >>> Howard, Jones

All right, so you're suggestion is that we cram Asik and Dwight into the paint so that they can get in each other's way every time they try to make a move.

Wow... you just dismissed the notion that Howard and Jones are way faster and more athletic than Howard and Asik.

Smaller guys are going to blow by those guys or better shooters are going to punish them, taking them out of the paint.

Howard and Asik and rebound pretty well, but they will stand in each other's way and take some from each other.

Nobody is going to double team Asik and people will let Howard shoot jumpers all day instead going to work in the paint.

Howard is going to mix it up but he is still away from the basket more. Not really effective.

Take it with a grain of salt.

Howard 80+% from the Free throw line in practice
    In games: 50-60%

Howard 3 pointers in practice: 40%
Howard in games: very likely 15%-20% or less

    that is being generous

Didn't Howard say in an interview that McHale told him if he shoots 9/10 of his 3s, McHale will allow him to take a 3pointer in games?

    This must be it.

Free throws are different from jump shots and 3 pointers in one big way. A jump shot is spontaneous: it is inside the flow of the game: you don't really have time to think too much about it, you just shoot. With a free throw there is plenty of time for anxiety or subconscious thoughts to kick in and mess with your mind; hence the big difference between practice and game in free throw percentage.

Earlier McHale experimented with the Dwight "bank shot off the glass" then last game had Dwight in the post; now maybe he'll have Dwight throw in a couple three point attempts. Even superstars have to adapt to new team, new teammates: just ask Lebron.

I noticed in our preseason games so far, whenever we run the PnR with Howard, Howard's man doesn't really leave him, so Harden ends up taking the ball to the basket.

Howard's not gonna get his shots via the PnR so much, it will have to be the post-up. He just has to make his moves more decisively and also look to pass out and repost more to keep his man guessing. Refs are not calling fouls on his defender.

Best shooting form I've seen from him. [IMG]
I need him to step out to the 3pt line next time he has to shoot free throws.
