This video really shows you what an island Tyson Chandler is on defensively. He steps up to Smith and it's an easy alley oop to Dwight. He keeps a body on Dwight and he gets dunked on Smith. No other Maverick is even in the play because they've doubled Harden on the perimeter on the pick and roll. It all happens so fast.

Of course, there were plenty of other beautiful passes by Josh that didn't involve getting the ball from a Harden PnR, so kudos to a great game by him.

One of the most exciting sequences we've seen in a while. Happy for Smoove.

Would love a highlight reel of the blocked shots. Those have been as impressive as the alleys bein thrown up.

Thanks clutch for this great clip.

Dwight jumping effortlessly and throwing it down hard is a good thing to see.

I watched it, but I had no Idea how fearless Josh was in the 3rd and dominant in the 4th.

Even if the Mavs defend the pick and roll with Tyson, and have Dirk underneath the basket to block shots, I think we will be able to get the job done, if Harden has a solid game 3.

    GO HOUSTON ROCKETS!

there have been many times since Dwight has been here that he will have his arms up in the air calling for one of guys to throw it up to him and they never would... glad to see his close buddy know that he can throw it up there whenever Dwight's arms are raised up

What's the record for the most same teammate-to-teammate alley-oop connections in a single game? There were SIX Smoove-to-D12 oops last night.

Josh & Dwight were treating the playoffs last night like it was the playground

I feel bad for Tyson, he knows he is Dwight's b****

It's because Dirk is useless defensively. He was never great or even solid defensively, but he used to be able to be ok, so he could be hidden.

Now, he's absolutely useless. Smith just drives by him... Josh Smith... yes, Josh has hit a few threes, including one in that game, but if you can't guard worth crap, and your options are to let Josh Smith take a 3 pointer or drive by you, I think everyone knows which choice you should choose. Of course, it's not like Dirk was way up on Smith either... he was effectively giving Josh the 3 on that play, and Josh still drove by him for the layup. He tries to switch on Dwight, and Dwight does the spin for the alley-oop. He tries to stay with Josh and Dwight gets open for the alley-oop.

The only thing remotely in his favor is it's not like the rest of the Mavs team is helping at all. PnR is supposed to be effective. You need good team defense to stop it. The SF and guards aren't hedging to help at all.

If the Rockets win this series, whether they play the Clippers or Spurs, both of those teams will have a lot better defense, from stopping the PnR itself to rotating much much better. The key will be on running CRISP and legal picks, and working through that extra pass or two or three to then find the open three or layup/dunk. But it absolutely still should be doable.

The Harden/Smith/Howard pick and roll absolutely SHOULD get you open looks, everytime. Now the Spurs will have Kawhi guarding Harden... making that initial pick/hand-off harder and Kawhi will do a better job shadowing Smith on the roll... but again, it absolutely should still work.

Could it be possible that the DMO injury was a blessing in disguise? We would never have seen as much of Capella and Josh Smith in those crucial minutes...

It allows Morey a chance to see if DMO is expendable... especially if we resign Smith.

DMO/2 first rounders/more picks/bev/etc could be those assets dealt just to keep Brewer/Smith.

The Harden, Brewer, Smith, Howard lineup is just brutal for open alley ops. Even with Harden on the bench, Smith was going off as a point forward.

Credits to the coaching staff in recognizing the weakness of dallas defense (Monta & Dirt) and exploiting it. They are trying to double team one of the best offensive players in the NBA with the two weakest Dallas defenders and they are paying for it dearly. Lovin it!
