First, i forget my breakfast and someone in my office brings doughnuts...and while i'm eating one, I watch this video....what a sweeeeet Thursday morning
except that vmax was a world class defender and also lead the rockets in assists in 93-94.. and he was a STARTER. wafer is more like eddie house except not as good
i remember if you wanted to watch this game at home, you had to order it on pay per view for 15 bucks,so my parents told em the next day we won. also i barely remember buck johnson, was he ok?
no. why do you think people booed robert horry at the draft? they didn't want another alabama player. but his nickname was the 'blade'. (not for the wesley snipes vampire character)
I believe it was because of Buck Johnson. Notice how the question of choice to Robert Horry was about Buck Johnson, NOT HAROLD MINOR. http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=1992_1090756 NBA '92/Rookie forward Horry already has passed Buck/For once, Rockets' top draft pick looks solid EDDIE SEFKO Staff SUN 11/01/1992 HOUSTON CHRONICLE, Section Special, Page 7, 2 STAR Edition Share It's not fair, really, that Robert Horry has arrived in Houston and immediately is deemed guilty by association. It's not Horry's fault that the Rockets' draft picks that came before him went south faster than a college kid on spring break. No, Horry is simply a victim of the legacy that those before him have left. In other words, fans just can't believe that the Rockets actually made a savvy pick in the draft. Believe it. It's true. Horry, a 6-9 package of athletic ability, showed during the preseason that he has the skills to become the best hand-picked Rocket since Hakeem Olajuwon was the No. 1 pick overall in 1984. Even the Rockets are trying to contain themselves, to some extent. They saw Derrick Chievous jump on the scene in 1988, then flame out in the blink of an eye. "You never know how a guy is going to develop, but Robert's got a very good future ahead of him," coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. The jury still is out on whether Horry will have the toughness and will to win that could make him a star in this league. So far, his confidence is not lacking. "I'm still learning," he concedes, "but by December, I want to be totally into the flow. Maybe by November." Horry had a respectable preseason if one simply goes by the numbers -- 12 points, 6 rebounds and 46-percent shooting. But it his presence on the court that has given his coaches and fans reason to believe the incredible dearth of talent from the Rockets draft over the past seven years is over. "The guy had a really good training camp," general manager Steve Patterson said. "Robert got in here early, learned Rudy's system and that has really benefited him. We're expecting good things from him." The last rookie to start for the Rockets, incidentally, was Olajuwon in 1984. Horry is virtually locked in as the starter at small forward. Suffice it to say it will not take him long to make Rockets fans forget about Buck . . . uh, Buck . . . er, well, whoever it was that started at small forward the last few years. "I don't feel any pressure to do things or prove myself," Horry says. "I just want to help the team as much as I can. "I know I'm capable of doing things that will make this a better team. I think people know I'm not the same player as Buck Johnson was." The Rockets are hoping the addition of Horry and veteran guard Scott Brooks -- plus the subtraction of John Turner and Johnson -- will help get them back on the right track this season. Brooks has been a delightful addition to the backcourt. He adds spark off the bench that has been missing for years. "The little guy is incredible," Tomjanovich says. "He's given us exactly what we wanted. I wouldn't have any problem whatsoever going to him at any point during a game." Brooks has the ability to overwhelm some of the other backup point guards around the league. What he lacks in stature at 5-11, he makes up for in quickness and smarts. The latter is a commodity the Rockets always are looking to add to their arsenal. "This team has a great deal of talent," Brooks says. "I just hope I can give Rudy what he wants from me off the bench. I've been on a division title team (Philadelphia) and on a 15-win team (Minnesota). I think this team can have a good season, a very good season." They certainly have a better chance at it because of their two newcomers.
could of been both,i remember monr being mentioned somewhere,i was a kid. we did good though picking horry
GREAT VIDEO! Wow, that was awesome....and intense. That team was sweet. Hakeem was so quick, something we don't see with our big slow Center. But Yao has so many skills to utilize when he's able to stay on the court. And Max....just....wow.
damn was that on the local station or what, those guys really wanted jordan to heat up and at the end of the game when grant ties up mad max the announcer was like going crazy "jump! JUMP!, oh wait, hold on a minute, it was a foul", they've never wanted us to win and never will.
are you serious bro? wafer couldn't hold mad max's jock strap. ala the franchise p.s. i'm serious you must be pretty young not to know that wafer is not even in the same ballpark as maxwell.

Yeah this jumped out more than anything to me. As great as Jordan was, Olajuwon did just as much, if not more than Jordan. And absolutely no one outworked Dream. Also, have to love Mad Max's cajones playing against Air. Maxwell played against Jordan better than any guard I've seen, including Dumars.
This reminds me of several things. Mad Max always seemed to light up the bulls. Sleepy Floyd is turble. Dream and Jordan are amazing.

This was before my time. I was 16 and hadn't discovered sports or wasn't interested and seeing this makes me realized how much I really missed. Great game.
