Harden always had the D in his name, rough times when was actually called Haren.

Why do you think he was falling away from the basket?

If you’re going to go at Harden you should do so with more speed. That’s his main defensive weakness. Lateral speed.

Offensively he’s smart enough and crafty enough to overcome this. Deceleration. Inviting and using contact. Step backs. Etc. defensively there’s not much he can do other than step back and invite a three.... which he obviously couldn’t do here. Kawhi isn’t a super speed guy.

Strong 1v1 contest on a game winner not highlight worthy. I know right, ESPN only replayed it a few dozen times immediately after. Idiots.

When a player is falling away, that's already putting more pressure on himself. There's not a lot of defense necessary to defend that type of shot. It's not that Harden didn't play good defense or didn't make it harder for Kawhi - it's the fact that the shot already had a high probability of missing because of Kawhi's motion. Almost any NBA player in that situation would have made it hard for Kawhi to hit the three.

Good on Harden for not fouling, though. Would have been super easy to be overzealous in that situation.

I mean, everyone is acting like I'm taking shots at Harden's defense. Which I'm clearly not.

That's because it was the last shot of an ESPN broadcasted game which could have potentially won it for the Raptors. If it was the same sequence except the Raptors would have lost by 10+ regardless if Kawhi made it, it wouldn't have been replayed at all.

    Think before you post.

He was falling away from the basket because Harden was on his left and falling to the right would have been an easier look.

It's all good. Let them be keyboard warriors - it's all they have to look forward to. One shouldn't tend to take them seriously, and should stop reading that post after "you're brain."

Good D by Harden late, but man...the Rockets absolutely have to figure out a solution to their end game situations. They are giving up leads on a consistent basis.

PJ and Harden put the clamps on Kawhi, surprised he had room to take breath let alone send up such a poor shot attempt.

His feet barely set and shoulders not square. Shot had no hope.

I don't know if that was great defense by Harden or just a bad shot by Kawai who by the way elevated right above Harden and had a clean look.
