That video says it all. More sessions need to be in the works, becuase Yao feels a little bit like D. Rob in the Playoff series. :D a couple more sessions and Yao will be dizzy saying "I thought I played good defense for the most part"

But if Yao can just get agressive. I would love to see a video of "DREAM" showing him how to work on the defensive end. Be "DOOMINANT" on both ends YAO, like 34! :p

Those videos brought tears to my eyes.

Especially the one where they show them actually playing.

THANKS to everyone for posting it.

If Yao gets that single dribble move down and works with Dream.....OOOOOH baby.

Great videos Hilltopper and Grendal.... I thought the first part of the Click2houston video was strictly interviewing Dream and when Yao's voice suddenly boomed in, I thought "Whoa, where did Yao come from?"

Seeing Dream back doing his trademark footwork sure brought back a lot of fond memories.

One question I have, a little off topic and which may have already been addressed a number of times. In the first video, after the joint interview was done, one of the questions that Yao was asked about what his summer plans are and what are his thoughts on Yi Jian Lian. My question is, if Yao has his annual summer commitments to the CNT, doesn't Yi have the same or at least similar kind of commitments?

To me, Yi's schedule in comparison to Yao's (when he first came into the league) seemed much more flexible (Yi is trainig in the States, attending movie premieres, being able to be on the scene when his name is called on Draft Night, etc.)

But when it's all said and done, shouldn't they have the same/similar time schedule as far as the CNT is concerned?

Two dribbles and this defenders knows where he's going and that's when he gets stripped. One dribble and spin, his defender won't know what hit him.

I love the Eaton mention from Dream. Eaton was slower than Yao and was very effective. Yao will never be Dream or Deke on defense but if he can be as effective as Eaton, I will be happy.

At 7'6" when Yao is on the left or right block, the last thing I wan't Yao to do is dribble the ball. Now maybe he can dribble it a little bit more if he has spacing out on the high post but I'm still not convinced that Yao has the dribbling skills to prevent turnovers. He's mainly too tall to be dribbling the ball.

He won't be because Eaton had much longer arms.

Someone please tell me why Yao couldn't learn these moves in the past 4 years?

You've never seen Yao take a jump hook in four years? Interesting.

There are subtleties in Dream's moves that Yao does not possess. Speaking purely from a skills perspective, I think Dream has A LOT of knowledge for Yao.

Let's face it. Ewing didn't have a great footwork or a great basketball IQ, Tom Thibadeaux is a guy who never played pro ball and Mutombo is/was a purely defensive player. Being mentored by the most well-rounded center of all time surely means more than anything else Yao has received in his career.

Quite honestly you guys aren't giving Yao enough credit.

Hakeem did not invent the pump fake, though he was certainly a master of it.

I started watching this highlight video and I stopped counting after about the fourth or fifth time I saw Yao make a pump fake move.

I hate to sound like a parade-rainer onner but this Hakeem thing is more of a publicity stunt. Yao has been in the NBA for four years, spending 40 minutes with Hakeem isn't going to teach him taht much more.

But I've never seen these kind of one-dribble moves from Yao. He used to dribble dribble dribble then turnover. He dribbled too much, and he shouldn't. These one-dribble moves are totally different, and he should learn these long time ago.

News came out from Beijing that the head of CBA just had heart attack after he heard Yao saying the national team game is the best place to experiment and hone new skills and use them in the NBA season.

Just get a chance to watch the training video. At the very last part, when Dream taught Yao about spinning, I noticed that Dream has emphasised on one-dribble left spin which Yao wasn't manage to do well in the video. I believe this will be Yao's killing offensive move in the coming season if he kept on practising that move. The left spin alone might not be that destructive but as Dream said, do the right spin in the first time, when the defender answered in your next play, switch to left. That's what Yao really need from his mentor(s), he has to change his moves during games! He has been so predictable in this playoff series. I hope there's a way to nail every word Dream said to Yao in this training session so that he could remember and transform into his games.

The biggest difference is in the one bounce dribble.

Notice they are catching it off that bounce with TWO hands, which gets them into a shooting motion much more quickly.

Another thing I see in the video is Dream teaching Yao is how to get seperation and space by making quicker moves.....

Again, I wish this happened 5 years ago, but better late than never.

The subtle differences in how Yao pulls off those moves will take him from being good to great. I actually hope Adelman, lets Yao take up more positions on the offensive end than just those two corners that JVG use to make him stand.
