Conquest Frontier Wars Pool of Radiance II: ruins of Myth Drannor Global Operations Alien vs. Predator II Sega Sports franchise Shadowrun on SNES (now on an emualtor on my PC) The original Final Fantasy (tceles B hsuP) GT2 GTA3 Warcraft III (Will there be a 3d Starcraft soon?) Alien 3 for SNES was a good side-scroller Project Gotham Racing is fun but gets very hard on some of the higher levels. Soul Reaver and Kain series. I can't wait for the Buffy game on X-BOX. HALO of course. Monkey Island series was hilarious. Men of low moral fiber (Pirates). Ghost Recon was cool. Longbow 2, and other Jane's games are good but very complicated. Crimson Skies Anything BattleTech (I think MechWarrior 2 was my favorite.) All D&D games. Arcanum looks fun but I haven't really gotten into it yet. I don't want to pay the monthly fee to play DAOC. Vampire the Masquerade: Redmption was a cool game, but the end guy I couldn't beat.
They already some LOTR RPG's. In fact I own two of the 3. There for the computer, but just to show you how old they are, they are on floppies. They aren't very fun though. If you meant a newer LOTR, heck yeah I'd want one!
River City Ransom kicked ass! I wish they'd bring out a remake... Anyone owned a Genesis? I had some great times on that black rectangle... Toe Jam & Earl Sonic Two Crude Dudes Mortal Kombat NBA Jam NHL 94 Gunstar Heroes Rocket Knight Adventures... Recently I've been playing Smash Brothers and Perfect Dark on the N64 with my buds. Never gets old...
I don't know if the new ones are going to be RPG's. I seen them listed as Action\Adventure. They may put some RPG elements in it though. Sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the two. I'll probably play them anyway.
Somebody needs to teach me this emulator ****. I don't want to download some bad stuff on my computer. Tell me a good one to dl, with some dandy fine games. Basically, somebody needs to spoon feed me this info crap. Thanks for the help in advance.
RPGs and Sports Games....hmmm, sounds like some familiar preferences. Madden is the football king, and I used to play a lot of NBA Live back during the late 90's. NBA 2K2 was cool, but its franchise mode wasn't all that great. I think maybe Madden has spoiled me in that department. All Final Fantasies pretty much rock. As do other RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, etc. Currently the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale type games are my favorites. Of course, I like the traditional platformer and multiplayer game too. With a lack of RPG goodness on the Cube I have been big into Super Smash Bros. (one of the best multiplayer games of all time) and look forward to the Zeldas and Marios to come.
been playing age of empires II online as usual... started onimusha 2 for ps2 again the other day. other than that im waiting on shenmue 2 for the x-box and resident evil 0...mmmmmmmm for gamecube...once again mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Video Games Rule. I haven't gotten to play a bunch lately, been working on a domain migration. But when I do.... XBOX: Madden 2003, Halo, NHL 2002, Max Payne, 007 AUF, Max Payne, NBA 2K2. SNES: Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball, Sim City, Aerobiz, Super Mario World. I have got to buy Tecmo Super Bowl again. PC: Emulators out the ying-yang of old NES, SNES, Sega and old arcade games. I also like Sim Golf, Empire Earth, Civilization 2 and 3, Red Alert 2 and Half-Life. I wish I was a kid again, I used to play all day long.
Red - "what do you do here?" You have all three game consoles? What kinda job do you have to find time to play all of those?
FIANL FANTASY ROCKS, but i've played so many other great rpg's not made by square soft. if you guys wanna talk about them just name some.
im a lab technician...in other words i do diabetes research... when i get off of work its play time...
That's a pretty sweet site, Thanks! As good as the emulators are though, I would much rather play it on the console. The small screen doesn't do this game justice.
I only play games on the computer. Here are my favorites. Everquest(EQ) Baldur's gate series. Morrowind Civilization III Neverwinter Nights (multiplayer) Outlaws Medal of Honor Icewindale. These are in no particular order, and I don't have the time to play any of them as much as I would like to.
What the heck just happend? I made this thread about when I just barely joined and now its back to life. Strange... I got some more info involving video games. 1. Yesterday on the Screen Savers, on TechTV, one guy made a system that was a computer, X-Box, PS2, and a Nintendo. (I think that's all.) Any time he wanted to switch consoles, he'd press a switch. I was drooling at that system. Only problem was that it cost about $4000. 2. After this thread, I bought Xenogears, which was on my list, I believe. (its been such a long time, and I only went to this page of the thread.) I had played it in '98, I think, but didn't really understand it. Played it now, and LOVED it. I loved it then too, but I love it a lot more now. Basically, its about a guy with I think 4 personalities who is trying to save the world from a weapon that had actually created the humans on the planet. Sounds confusing? It is. But its a very good story. That's about it, I guess.
RC, you seem like a fellow RPG lover, so I'm going to break down all the one's I find noteworthy... Super NES Final Fantasy II/IV - Cliched, but so old that they weren't even cliches when it first came out, an absolute classic. Final Fantasy III/VI - Just flat out badass. Any RPG lover who hasn't played this game through is one of those new age RPG kids who only looks for graphics. Earthbound - The funniest RPG ever made, and hella fun to boot. Chrono Trigger - Best. Game. Ever. Breath of Fire I/II - Good, solid games, but I can't even remember which one was which so I'm grouping them together. Recommended for beginners, IMO. Secret of Mana/Evermore/Seiken D - More of an action adventure RPG (the third one is more tradtional, and the only one of the series I like) They're alright, but if you want an action RPG, then go for... Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - You know the deal. Lufia I & II - Pretty solid games, old school to the core, another beginner recommendation. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: Don't be fooled by the name, it sucks ass. Super Mario RPG - I remember how excited I was when I bought it. Lame, lame, lame. LAME! Illusion of Gaia, Paladin's Quest, The 7th Saga...all other games I have on emulator but haven't played extensively, check out at your own risk. Playstation No way I can list all of the one's I've played here, cause I don't have them and it's been forever since I've played, but I'll go through the one's I can remember.... Final Fantasy VII - Got a bad rap by true RPGers, especially me, but after a while it truly grows on ya. It's a neat little game. Final Fantasy VIII - Got an even worse rap, but it happens to be tied for my favorite Final Fantasy with III. Love it to death. Final Fantasy IX - I wasn't very interested in it at first, and it was the first FF game I didn't own, but I borrowed it and played through it and loved it. Kinda old school in it's settings and whatnot. Xenogears - The absolute pinnacle of Playstation RPG's. Without a doubt. The game still gives me chills at some points, a frighteningly awesome story. Legend of Dragoon - I know I owned this, but I can't remember a damned thing about it. Star Ocean 2 - Not very popular, but incredibly fun and even more replay value than Chrono Trigger. I think there's nearly 80 different endings and multiple story paths. The main story line is also pretty cool. One game I wish I still had. Final Fantasy Tactics - If you can adjust to playing strategy with no walking around and general town stuff, it's well worth it. One of my favorites. Azure Dreams - More action RPGish, but incredibly fun and light. Something that can be picked up at any time. Thousand Arms - It's wicked funny and r****ded at the same time. An RPG/dating simulator. Very, very strange... Vagrant Story - Never owned nor finished it, but a stylistically cool game and pretty fun I thought. Chrono Cross - If it weren't for the references to Chrono Trigger, I'd say play it before that. Because it's a massive dissapointment. And it's a great game, but the fact it's a sequel to the best game ever makes it dissapointing. Lunar The Silver Star Story - Loved it so so much. Old school big time. Very cool anime scenes, and a neat story. Wish I had still been into games when the sequels came out. Breath of Fire III - Considerably better than it's Super NES counterparts, and that says alot. Very cool game. Front Mission 3 - Similar to tactics but ten times more in depth in customization and strategy. Robot lovers come one come all. Wicked game. Final Fantasy Chronicles/Anthology - Cool new scenes, but save money and go for the emu stuff, and download the cg. Grandia - A happy RPG, but r****ded and boring... Saga Frontier - Not my cup of tea at all, but it's a good game. Suikoden I & II - Just plain awesome. Must have. Wild Arms - Like Saga Frontier, I know it's a good game, I just didn't like them at all. ---------------------------- I never bought a system after playstation, so I kinda wish I could see some of these new school RPG's like FF X, which I really want to play. And I never played RPG's on Sega (cause come on, we all know SNES was the shiz) but Shining Force ain't too bad... And there is no such thing as a N64 RPG. And Saturn sucked. Thus ends my extremely lengthy post about RPG's!
Wait, one more thing! My all time top RPG list (and RPG's were my favorite games so it's my top game list of all time): 1. Chrono Trigger (SNES) 2. Xenogears (PSX) 3. Final Fantasy III (SNES) 3a. Final Fantasy VIII (PSX) 5. Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) 6. Final Fantasy II (SNES) 7. Final Fantasy IX (PSX) 8. Earthbound (SNES) 9. Suikoden (PSX) 10. Lunar (PSX) 11. Final Fantasy VII (PSX) 12. Legend of Zelda (SNES) 13. Chrono Cross (PSX) 14. Suikoden II (PSX) 15. Star Ocean (PSX) Oh, and I didn't include any nintendo games on either of my lists because while they were awesome at the time, all they serve now is for nostalgic purposes, and game play is where it's at for me. FF one players know what I'm talking about. Yeah, it's a classic, but it sucks.
I think out of all of those, I've haven't played about maybe 5. I heard Legend of Dragoon wasn't very good, so I didn't play it. (but I didn't give it a chance. ) Never got to play Vagrant Story Lunar, or Grandia but I kind of wanted to. Never heard of Front Mission 3, but it sounds cool. And I would try to think of some I played that you didn't list, but like you said you just did the ones worth noting. I can't think of any that I liked that you didn't have. Only other one I could possibly think of is Parasite Eve. I thought it was pretty good. Yeah, I know what you mean. I was going to play FF1 on my computer, but I kept getting frustrated with how primitive it was.
Geez, when I look at that list of Playstation games, I had at some point owned 16 out of the 21 games listed...(not all at once, of course) but still. Damn, that's an incredibly large amount of money to spend, not to mention the time invested in all those games.... No wonder I was a big loser in high school!
